INTRODUCTION
In this case study I will talk about the consumption of drugs in our lives, how they
can affect us in our personal lives, how it affects our relationship with ourselves
and with the people around us, what are the consequences of consuming this type
of substances, because it is important to inform ourselves about these substances
that at the end of the day end up doing us so much harm.

Today we know that drug addiction is a problem that has increased in recent years,
this problem seems to have found a fixed stay in the population of adolescents and
young people in the world. This has put families, schools and therefore society in a
state of alert and concern about the exposure that adolescents have to the
consumption and access of drugs. The problem with drug addiction is that it not
only locks up the youth population, but also creates serious states of dependency
to which any individual can succumb, regardless of gender, age, socioeconomic
status.

The battle against drug addiction seems to have no end, because somehow the
consumption of drugs has found a way to remain in time, since its production,
commercialization, although illegal comes into the hands of many to generate
havoc and personal, family, emotional and financial conflicts.
CONFLICT: DRUG USE

Experts argue that drug addiction is a disease caused by the excessive consumption
of a substance with harmful and toxic effects on the functioning of the human
body.

According to the United Nations (UN) drug addiction is a group of physiological

behavioral and cognitive phenomena of variable intensity, in which the so of
psychoactive drugs has a high priority, there is concern and desire to obtain and
take the drug, so behaviors are adopted to seek it. The determinants and
problematic consequences of drug dependence can be biological, psychological, or
social and usually interact.

That is, the individual succumbs to drug use due to personal, family, sentimental,
socioeconomic conflicts, stress or the suffering of psychological diseases such as
anxiety. Stress, depression and others.

CLASSIFICATION OF DRUGS

There are many ways to classify drugs: according to their origin, chemical
structure, pharmacological action, clinical manifestations, social effects, legality or
degree of affectation of physical, mental or social health ...

 Depressants. Alcohol, barbiturates, tranquilizers and opium and their

derivatives (morphine, codeine, heroin, methadone) are considered
depressant drugs.
 Stimulants. This includes cocaine, amphetamine-type stimulants, most
synthetic substances and new psychoactive substances.
 Hallucinogenic/psychoactive. It includes substances from a wide variety of
natural and synthetic sources, and are structurally different.
 Other substances. Cannabis, inhalants and new psychoactive substances
are substances that have recently appeared on the market, have chemical
and/or pharmacological properties similar to that of known and already
internationally controlled substances.

CONSUMPTION PATTERNS

There are several types of consumers: those who consume experimentally, those
who do it on a regular basis (called social consumers), those who do it in a harmful
way with the capacity to produce bodily or mental damage and, finally, those who
do it abusively and dependently.

WHAT EFFECTS DO DRUGS PRODUCE AND WHY THEY ARE USED

In general, people start using drugs for different reasons:

 To feel good. Most drugs of abuse produce intense feelings of pleasure.

This initial feeling of euphoria is followed by other effects, which differ
depending on the type of drug used. For example, with stimulants, such
as cocaine, after the effect of euphoria come feelings of power, self-
confidence and increased energy. Conversely, the euphoria produced by
opiates, such as heroin, is followed by feelings of relaxation and
satisfaction.
 To feel better. Some people who suffer from anxiety or social phobia,
disorders related to distress or depression, begin to abuse drugs to try to
reduce these feelings. Stress can play an important role in determining
whether someone starts or continues to abuse drugs, as well as relapses
in patients who are recovering from their addiction.
 To perform better. The need some people feel to improve their athletic
or cognitive performance with chemicals may play a similar role in initial
experimentation and continued drug abuse.
 Out of curiosity or because others do it. In this respect, adolescents are a
particularly vulnerable population, due to the strong influence that
pressure from friends and peers has on them. They are more likely, for
example, to engage in bold or challenging behaviors.
PRESENTATIONOF THE CASE

Woman of 19 years of age, who comes to our consultation after having been
discharged from the psychology unit after having consumed substances harmful to her
health, because she consumed crystal and had to be treated since it caused some
damage in sense to her physical and psychological appearance since this type of
substance has many consequences both for her health, both physically.

PERSONAL BACKGROUND

She since she was in the mother's belly had many complications since it was a high-
risk pregnancy and threatened with miscarriage, since she was born she has had
several health difficulties, was twice subjected to surgery and suffers from a
disease called atopic dermatitis, she has always been in dermatological treatment.

TOXICOLOGICAL BACKGROUND

I started the consumption of crystal at age 19, during the first two months he
maintained a pattern of consumption of 2-4 smoked per week, although
sometimes he modified the rhythm of consumption depending on the money he
sometimes had invested most of the money his parents gave him, the maximum
period he was without smoking was one week.

PSYCHOBIOGRAPHY

He lives with a family of three members (mom, dad and brother), he did primary
school with good results, he finished middle and high school with very good
results, at the university level was when the consumption of glass began and this
therefore caused the decrease in academic performance, today he is studying
international business in the area of marketing. Nowadays his social, family and
personal life are a little affected since by consuming such a substance he moved
away from everything and everyone and removed everyone from his side.
CURRENT PROCESS

The consumption of this substance had worsened the relationship with her
parents, in the weeks prior to the psychological consultations she said that "the
head was going too fast, I think the glass was controlling it, but you just have to
want to have control again to recover it", the patient's family reported that they
began to notice that it was changing a lot, That she never lived with them
anymore, she always spent it locked in her room without talking to anyone, all the
time she spent it alone, nervous, anxious, they noticed a lot that she began to lose
weight too quickly and almost never slept.

Currently the patient is attending psychology therapy once a week, she is fully
recovered, she is in the process of recovering the weight, she is working on her
self-esteem, her self-esteem, we have also been working on communication with
the family, she is making incredible progress in recovering that relationship with
family, cousins and close friends to her.

CONCLLUSIONS

With the research carried out and with the personal experience in this case study,
we had the opportunity to know and form a perspective about the problem of drug
addiction, the impacts, and personal, family and social sequelae it leaves. The
psychological and physical repercussion, suffered by the degree of dependence,
which enslaves the will of people, displacing basic needs, such as eating or
sleeping, causing the loss of all concept of morality, reasoning and judgment,
because the individual can commit crimes and crimes, caused by the consumption
and effects of drugs.

It is very important as a young person to study a little more in detail the factors
that influence to lead this population to drug use, because in different ways society
counts on us to build and guarantee a better present and future.
