This Weird Fruit Showed up One Day

Every time a new food appears, people want to eat it. When Goblin Fruit started
appearing outside the hedge, by the weekend you could find them down at the
market. Strange seasonal fruits, only $0.99 a pound! It looks like an apple, but it
tastes just like a meat pie my grandma used to make!

While Hedge fruit doesn’t normally work on humans, how they tasted was
completely a different story. Cheap, delicious, quickly replenishing… people
tried it enmass. Instagram had discussions about what kind they’d mix in with
their yogurt.

Little did people know, all they had to do to get some was to head down to their
local hedge gate. It didn’t matter which ones, as long as it had foliage nearby, you
had a reasonable chance of walking away with a handful of these miracle fruit.

Only problem was… have you ever had a song stuck in your head that you
couldn’t get rid of? Try that, but with food. Good luck trying to describe a fruit
that tastes like your first kiss. I wonder when they’ll have it in stock again

I only had my Twiper account for 6 months when someone finally tweeted me.

It seemed pretty innocent. ‘@PressXToLove Open the door. 04:17, 11-28-19’ from @StepOnThrough. That’s hardly even
a tweet. Not that I’m an expert, clearly.

I didn’t even think much of it at first. Its profile picture was just a red door. It looked like any door. Every door. Just… this
one was red. Nothing so special about that… right?

So I put it out of my mind. Or, tried to anyway. I’d eat some Shreddies… ‘Open the Door’. I went to check my Fadebook…
‘Open the door’. Getting a call from a CRA Scammer… ‘Open the door’. I couldn’t get it out of my head.

Who is behind it? I was the only one they had tweeted, so far as I could see. Who would make an account like that? Ugh.
I guess this is why they say ‘Never read the comments’.

What door was I supposed to find? And where? I reverse-searched the up, and it couldn’t find anything on it.

A couple hours went by before I noticed the postal code ‘V6B 1C7’, right there in their profile. I knew the area, it was right
by Gastown, but I didn’t remember any like this door there.

I passed by Gastown on my way home from work. I still couldn’t find the door. Probably spent an hour just pacing up and
down the street looking for it too.

I went home tired, and feeling pretty stupid. I collapsed on my bed face down and slept for hours.

I woke up when I heard the moths bouncing off the window. Three moths, larger than I had ever seen. It was a little cold
for them… I should’ve thought of about it. I wasn’t thinking.

I dragged myself out of bed on autopilot. There weren’t any busses running this time of night so I took a cab. I would’ve
put on a warmer hoodie if I was thinking.

And there the door was. I’d been down this street, 3 or 4 times yesterday, and I know it wasn’t here before. It was just
there, jutting out of the brick wall. I put my hand on the knob and gave it a turn. It barely even budged.

I grumbled and leaned against it, and slid down to the cold cement. I blew $20 on a cab for this?

I headed over to a coffee place a few streets away. I checked the time on my way. I still had 42 minutes.

There I waited, in the middle of the night, with some particularly shitty coffee and literally no idea why I was still here,
shivering.

It wasn’t long until I returned to the door. I tried the knob again… it still didn’t budge. So, I’m not sure what this is about.
My coffee’s cold, and I’m just typing this to warm up my hands while I wait.

be replaced with other Titles they collect, as well as with anything else as significantly magical.
Should all three aspirations be burned out, the Title will absorb the owner to help repair itself.
