School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan

Objectives and Activities

1. Prevention and Mitigation:

Objective: To ensure safe and secure learning facilities.

Activities:

1.1. Conduct a Clean-up Drive to maintain a clean and hazard-


free environment.

1.2. Undertake Construction/Rehabilitation of the school


perimeter fence, including adding barbed wire for security.

1.3. Organize a Tree Planting initiative to enhance green spaces.

1.4. Conduct Simultaneous Earthquake Drills to prepare students


and staff for emergencies.

1.5. Prioritize the Rehabilitation/Repair of classrooms and


electrical installations.

1.6. Focus on creating safe school sites and resilient classrooms


through effective designs and construction strategies.

1.7. Regularly assess school risks through Annual School Risk


Assessment.

1.8. Implement Solid Waste Management and promote good


practices.

2. Preparedness:

Objective: Integration of DRR principles into lessons.

Activities:

2.1. Infuse DRR concepts into regular lessons.


2.2. Conduct Quarterly Hazard Drills (e.g., earthquake, fire) to ensure
readiness.
2.3. Provide psychological first aid training to teachers and students.

Creation of SDRRM Team:

o Objective: To organize, elect, and appoint School Disaster Risk Reduction


Team Officers and members.
o Responsible Person: School Head
o Time Frame: October to January 2021

Orientation of SDRRM Team:

o Objective: To orient faculty members about the SDRRM Team’s duties and
responsibilities during emergencies.
o Responsible Person: School Head
o Time Frame: October to January 2021

Earthquake/Fire Drill Orientation:

o Objective: To inform teachers, pupils, and parents on emergency procedures.


o Responsible Persons: Teachers, Pupils, Parents, BOD, and PTA
o Time Frame: January to March 2021

Report of Emergency Exercises:

o Objective: Enhance response capabilities.


o Responsible Person: School Head
o Time Frame: November 2021
