I am excited to share my experience as a HR intern at Samsung R&D Institute

Bangladesh (SRBD). I primarily handled assignments in the Learning and
Development (L&D) and Recruitment departments, with some exposure to the
Employee Relations department.

In the L&D department, I worked on a variety of projects, including:

 Developing and delivering training programs on new technologies and

processes to employees across all levels of the organization.

 Creating and managing e-learning courses on a variety of HR-related topics.

plans.

help employees learn how to use Bixby to improve their productivity and efficiency.
The program was well-received by employees, and I received positive feedback on

Another important contribution was the creation of an e-learning course on employee

onboarding. This course was designed to help new employees learn about SRBD's

SRBD will be invaluable in my future career.
The Lessons Learned from my Internship Program

From my internship experience at Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh, I have learned

a number of valuable lessons, including:

The importance of being proactive and taking initiative. As an intern, I was expected
to be proactive and take initiative on projects. This meant identifying opportunities to
contribute, asking questions, and seeking out feedback. I learned that by being
proactive, I could make a more significant impact and learn more quickly.

The value of teamwork and collaboration. In the HR department, I worked closely

with a team of experienced professionals. I learned the importance of teamwork and
collaboration in achieving common goals. I also learned how to effectively
communicate and coordinate with others, even when we had different perspectives.

The importance of continuous learning and development. The technology industry is

constantly changing, and it is important for HR professionals to stay up-to-date on the
latest trends and developments. During my internship, I had the opportunity to learn
about new technologies and processes. I also learned how to develop and deliver
training programs on these topics. I have realized that continuous learning and
development is essential for success in the HR profession.

The importance of soft skills. In addition to technical skills, HR professionals also

need to have strong soft skills such as communication, interpersonal skills, and
problem-solving skills. During my internship, I had the opportunity to develop these
skills through my interactions with employees at all levels of the organization. I
learned how to communicate effectively with people from different backgrounds and
with different levels of seniority. I also learned how to resolve conflicts and build
relationships with others.

Overall, my internship experience at Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh was a

valuable learning experience. I gained valuable skills and knowledge in HR, and I
learned important lessons about the importance of being proactive, taking initiative,
working as a team, collaborating with others, continuous learning and development,
and soft skills. I am grateful for the opportunity to have interned at SRBD, and I am
confident that the experience I gained will be invaluable in my future career.

From my perspective, the most important lesson I learned from my internship

experience is the importance of being proactive and taking initiative. As an intern, it is
easy to feel intimidated or overwhelmed. However, it is important to remember that
you are there to learn and grow. By being proactive and taking initiative, you can
make a more significant impact and learn more quickly. You can also show your
employer that you are interested in your work and that you are willing to take on new
challenges.
Interaction with my Supervisor and Co-Workers
My very first interaction at SRBD was with my interviewer named Arif Hasan who is
the Manager at HR Department. It was a long and nice interview session with him.

After that I got my acceptance call from Arif Hasan. He greeted me with warm wishes
and informed me about my joining dates and what necessary documents that I have to
carry. Followed by this call, I received a call from another manager at HR Department
named Nawshera Sharmin. She explained to me about the different rules and
regulations that I should abide by as an HR Intern.

Finally, it was my joining day, The HR department welcomed me at the office and
made me explain about my working hours, salary, transportation etc. I was taken to
my supervisor Arif Hasan who welcomed me and lead me to my L&D Team. There I
met with my team members Md. Tarique Rahman Khan, General Manager; Md.
Shaiful Islam, Deputy General Manager; Arif Hasan, Manager; Nawshera Sharmin,
Manager and Nafiul Islam, Deputy manager. One of them gave me a whole office tour
and introduced me with the whole HR Department.

Time after time I grew a great bond with all of them. We used to go for lunch
together, chit chatted a bit at our free time and shared many fun stories.

My coworkers taught me every work with neat details and with ample amount of time
in hand. I was fortunate enough to get a closer look on how interviews are conducted
and evaluated.

After a month a new intern arrived at the Talent acquisition Team. She was also very
friendly and kind. We gave support on each other’s absence.

HR Department celebrated birthdays together. It was a joyous occasion for all of us.
They treated me like their own employee. There was no discrimination made.

We had a great teamwork mindset which ensured our work efficiency. For any kind of
assistance, I always reached out to my Supervisor Arif Hasan and got necessary
solution.

In short, it was a great working environment with my co-workers.

Encountering Difficulties

As a new hire into the corporate world, I faced few difficulties at the primary stage of
my internship. They included:

1. Difficulty to adjust in the new environment: I felt awkward and confused at the
beginning as it was a whole new place, surrounding and people for me.

Solution: I made myself understand and motivated that this is my chance to learn as
much as possible. With time everything got well.

2. Keeping Pace with my co-workers: Working with the experienced ones made
me feel lagged behind. I was sturdy and slow at the beginning.

Solution: I stopped taking overload of work. Rather I finished one and got on another
work with synchronization that made me finish everything on time.

3. Difficulty with Excel: I faced difficulties working on excel as I used it barely

during my academics
Solution: I sat with my co-workers where they showed me different tips and tricks on
how to do specific tasks. I also self taught from the internet at home.

4. Feeling less confident while communicating with the candidates: I felt quite
clueless about how to start the conversation and how to lead towards the topic
Solution: I wrote a note for myself and stick it to my desk. It had a speech on how to
start the conversation and get necessary information from the candidate. After a
month I did not even look at the note. It got set I my mind.
Difference Between my Expectation and Experience

An internship is a fantastic way to pick up knowledge and skills in a specific field. An

internship refines our knowledge, talents, and abilities while teaching us a variety of
lessons about that field.
An internship offers practical tasks and experiences that are beneficial for advancing
one's career. The best way to gain important knowledge that will help us throughout
our careers is through internships. Our career goals and objectives can be established
through internship experiences, which aid in establishing a direction.
This was my basic expectation that I will learn things aligning with my major subject.
Experience:
I learned and experienced so many things from my internship journey that includes:
1. Communication Skills: A career goal can be easily attained and the path made
much easier with effective communication skills. Thus, it is crucial to have this HR
skill as an HR intern.
2. Teamwork: Today's world requires people to be able to work well in teams. The
fundamentals of teamwork are treating others with respect, soliciting their opinions,
and coming up with the best solution as a group. Developing these skill sets is also
crucial during an HR internship.
3. Managing People: There are individuals of various races, personalities, ways of
thinking, and mindsets in an organization. An HR intern should concentrate on
learning how to work while upholding civility in interactions with a variety of people.
4. Management: The HR department is in charge of monitoring each worker's
performance and awarding the right individual. To apply in the future, an HR intern
should become familiar with the procedure, the standards, the relevant data, and the
overall impact.
5. Self-Study & Research: Another essential component of the HR division is
research and development. In order to improve the working environment, team
satisfaction, and organizational structure for future implementations, an HR intern
should conduct research and learn the necessary processes.
Influence of my Internship on my Career Plan

Students and recent graduates can gain practical experience in their field of study and
develop skills that will be essential to their future careers through internships, which
are a great opportunity. They offer a special chance to close the knowledge gap
between academic study and practical application, giving students access to
information and understanding that cannot be obtained in a classroom. These are a
few explanations for why internships are crucial for professional advancement.
This internship has set up a positive prospective in my mind for my future career plan
in the following ways:

1. Gaining Real World Experience:

The fact that internships give students practical experience in their chosen fields is
one of their main advantages. Securing future employment opportunities can greatly
benefit from this experience as it gives students the chance to showcase their
knowledge and practical skills to prospective employers. In my case, exactly the same
happened. I drew further interest for working as an HR Professional specifically in the
Talent & Acquisition Team.
2. Adopting Professional Skills:
Students can also gain professional skills through internships, which are essential for
their future careers. These could include leadership, problem-solving, collaboration,
communication, time management, and teamwork—all of which are highly regarded
by employers.

3. Add notable facts in the resume:

Lastly, internships can make students more noticeable to employers. Possessing
relevant work experience can help candidates stand out from the competition and
show their dedication to their field. Additionally, it can give you a competitive edge
over other applicants who might not have had the same chances. Due to my update in
resume, I got so many great offers from employers.
4. Increase Networking:
The chance to network with people in the business is another advantage of
internships. Working with experts in their field allows students to network and form
relationships with mentors, colleagues, and employers.
5. Knowing about my potentials:
As a student I never knew about my hidden potentials like strong communication
skills, analytic and also problem-solving.
If I had to redo this Internship, Things I would Do
Differently
As a new hire I faced some problems during my internship period. If I could redo it
here’s how I would have done it differently:
1. Ask for more real-life experience: As I was constrained on Talent Acquisition &
Learning and Development Team, I didn’t focus on other area much. Though I
got the chance to take lessons but I lagged behind to ask for more real-life examples
to clear my concept.
2. Do more research: I showed up with zero research and knowledge about the
corporate world. I would have gathered more knowledge and do well research before
joining.
3. Be more skillful in Managing my tasks efficiently: Efficiency is such a tool
which is needless to describe about its importance. I would have gathered much more
tips and tricks to do my tasks efficiently.
