1 Tests on Main Switchboard

i. Has the wiring diagram of the main


switchboard been obtained from the
switchboard manufacturer ? [ ]

ii. Is incoming cable(s) de-energised ? [ ]

iii. Has the main switchboard been isolated from


the rest of the LT installation by opening
all the incoming and outing circuit
breakers, couplers and disconnecting the
incoming neutral cables from the
switchboard ? [ ]

iv. Are wiring connections and terminal labels


in accordance with the wiring diagram
supplied for the main switchboard ? [ ]

v. Is the earthing on the main switchboard


effective ? (check visually) [ ]

vi. Are all C.T. ratings (burdens, ratios,


class, polarity) in accordance with the
tender drawings ? [ ]

vii. Has the insulation resistance of the main


switchboard been measured and the results
recorded on Annex A ? [ ]

viii. Is the ammeter selector switch functioning


correctly ? (inject a current into one phase,
the ammeter should give a reading only when
that phase is selected; repeat for the other
two phases). [ ]

ix. Have the ammeters, voltmeters and KWH meters


(if any) been calibrated ? [ ]

2 Verification of Polarity

3 Effectiveness of Earthing Tests

disconnected and replaced with 1.5mm² PVC cable ? [ ]

replaced with the original interlinking copper

iii. Have all switches, MCBs, etc between


this outlet and the main switchboard
been closed ? [ ]

iv. Have all RCCBs (if any) installed


between this outlet and the main
switchboard been disconnected and
bypassed with jumper wires ? [ ]

v. Has the earth-loop impedance been


measured ? [ ]

9 On-load Tests

10 RCCB Tripping Tests

ii. Is the RCCB functioning properly ? [ ]

Note : Each RCCB should trip when its TEST


button is pressed and also when subjected
to an earth-leakage current (from an RCCB
tester plugged into a socket outlet supplied
by that RCCB) equal to its rated tripping
current.

iii. Have all the RCCBs been reset ? [ ]

11 Commissioning & Handling Over

i. Is the supply on and are all circuit breakers


and other protective devices closed ? [ ]

systems other than the normal LT
installation (eg fire detection system) ? [ ]

iv. Have all the relevant drawings been

ANNEX E

CHECKLIST FOR INSTALLATION INSPECTION

All boxes are to be filled. Use NA where not applicable and NT where not tested.

1 All round clearance of the main switchboard shall


be not less than 600mm and the layout of the
switchroom is in accordance with the approved plan [ ]

2 The switchroom door shall open outwards from the


inside of the switchroom without the need to use
a key. [ ]

3 Precaution shall be taken where any pipes such as


sewerage and water pipes are run through or into
the switchroom [ ]

4 All switchroom requirements listed below shall be


provided :

(a) Fire Extinguisher [ ]

(b) Rubber Mat (5 mm thick) [ ]

(c ) First-Aid Chart [ ]

(d) Single-Line Drawing endorsed by LEW [ ]

(e) Danger Signs on Doors and Removable Panels [ ]


of Switchboard

(f) Socket Outlets [ ]

(g) Adequate Lighting [ ]

(h) Cabinet for keys and Log Book [ ]

5 A set of incoming lights, outgoing lights or


voltmeter and ammeter complete with selector
switches are provided at the main switchboard [ ]

6 Removable neutral links are provided adjacent


to the main incoming and all outgoing 3-pole
circuit breakers [ ]

7 Busbars in main switchboard are adequately
rated [ ]

8 Protection against direct contact with accessible


live parts shall be provided for the switchboard.
The main incoming live terminals shall be
protected by barrier of at least IP2X [ ]

9 No under-voltage tripping device is used in the


incoming or supply associated with lift
installation [ ]

10 Check DC supply and battery source, if any, are


in working condition [ ]

11 Check that the installation is generally in


accordance with the single-line drawing [ ]

12 Passageway, inside and outside the switchroom,


shall be kept clear [ ]

13 Check that the relay settings are not tampered with [ ]

14 There is proper labelling on the switchboard for


all circuits. Labelling shall be permanent and
durable type. A permanent label indicating the
approved load shall be affixed to the incoming
panel [ ]

15 Rated breaking capacity of circuit breakers are


adequate at point of installation [ ]

16 Proper supports are provided for all wirings or


cables within the switchboard and other parts of
the installation [ ]

17 A proper earth bar is provided. A permanent label


indicating the earth value and test date shall be
affixed to the main earth bar. Check that all
protective conductors are effectively connected
to earth [ ]

18 Proper earth electrode inspection chamber is


provided and accessible. Warning notice
"Safety Electrical Connection - Do Not Remove"
is provided [ ]

19 Main equipotential bonding provided for all


exposed conductive parts and extraneous conductive
parts as necessary [ ]

20 Metallic trunkings and conduits are bonded to earth


and electrical continuity is effectively maintained [ ]

21 Cables, conductors and CPC are correctively sized


for their purposes [ ]

22 Links, switches, socket outlets, joints, terminations


and other accessories are in good condition [ ]

23 No switch or fuse is inserted in the neutral or


protective conductor unless it is required for
special purpose [ ]

24 Installation resistance between the conductors


and to earth at the main switchboard and other
parts of the installation shall be at least
1 M-ohm. (for LV installation) [ ]

25 Polarity at switches and socket outlets are correct [ ]

26 RCCBs are provided for all lighting and socket


outlet circuits in domestic units [ ]

27 Check the suitability of the type of MCBs and


RCCBs used [ ]

28 Circuits to high risk areas are protected by


RCCBs of 30 mA sensitivity (e.g. children
playground, garden lighting and areas which
are likely to be wet) [ ]

29 Electrical fitting or accessory installed outdoor


are suitable for outdoor use [ ]
