The Educational Innovation in Technology Workshop aims to bridge the gap

between current educational practices and the evolving digital landscape, ensuring
that educators across Europe are equipped with the latest tools and methodologies
to foster democratic values and civic engagement in a digital age. The workshop
will cover a range of topics, including but not limited to:
Integration of Digital Tools in Civic Education: Educators will learn how to
effectively integrate digital tools into their teaching practices to enhance students'
understanding of democratic processes and civic responsibilities.
The teachers and students will participate in hands-on sessions where
they will learn how to integrate various digital tools, such as online
platforms, interactive multimedia resources, and social media, into their
civic education curriculum.
Practical examples and case studies will be provided to demonstrate how these
tools can be used to facilitate students' understanding of democratic processes,
civic responsibilities, and social issues.
Collaborative Learning Platforms: The workshop will explore various online
platforms that facilitate collaborative learning across borders, enabling students
from different European countries to engage in dialogue and joint projects focused
on democratic leadership and advocacy.
Participants will learn how to manage these platforms in order to create virtual
classrooms, organize joint projects, and facilitate discussions on topics related to
democratic leadership, advocacy, and global citizenship.
Developing Critical Thinking and Media Literacy: Special sessions will be
dedicated to developing students' critical thinking and media literacy skills, which
are essential for navigating the complex information landscape and participating
effectively in democratic societies.
Educators will learn how to teach students to evaluate sources, discern bias, detect
misinformation, fake news and critically analyze digital content related to civic
issues and current events.
Project-Based Learning for Civic Engagement: Participants will be introduced to
project-based learning approaches that encourage active citizenship and democratic
participation among students, including how to design and implement projects that
address real-world issues at the local, national, or European level.
Workshop attendees will take part in interactive sessions and collaborative
discussions aimed at investigating learning methods that will stimulate active
citizenship and democratic involvement among students. They will gain insights
into crafting and executing project-based initiatives that motivate students to tackle
authentic societal challenges, champion positive transformation, and interact with
their communities in impactful manners.
The workshop will be a mix of keynote speeches, interactive sessions, and group
work, allowing participants to share experiences, develop new skills, and work
collaboratively on developing innovative teaching methodologies that can be
implemented in their respective institutions.
The expected outcome of the workshop is a significant enhancement in the
collaboration between European educational institutions and the development of
new, innovative teaching methodologies that are more aligned with the needs.
