Personal Statement: Please structure your essay in paragraphs and limit your response to

250 words, single-spaced. (Essays that exceed the word limit are penalized in the scoring).

Tell us about yourself and your goals:

1) Why do you think your background and/or interests make you competitive for this
particular institute (please be as specific as possible)?

2) What will you contribute to the group?

3) How do you expect this experience will affect you personally or professionally?

I was born in Pishin, a district along the Pak-Afghan border. I am a devoted law student and
an active participant in extracurricular activities. My father’s sacrifices for my education
taught me the importance of hard work, sparking a passion for academia and community
service. Triggered by a tragic incident in August 2016, where we lost over 70 lawyers in my
province, I channelled my academic passion towards human rights. This incident solidified
my resolve to advocate for the marginalized communities of Baluchistan. (This is good. Just
add the touch of USA Public Policy and Law and mention how it has been your motivation)

My experiences extend beyond academia. I have participated in awareness campaigns, the

Pakistan Leadership Summit program, debates, and writing competitions organized by
various organizations. As a member of the Youth Parliament Pakistan, I have broadened my
skills and gained insight into governmental processes. Moreover, I have taken courses on
International Law and Personal Development offered by IPRI. I have led donation drives for
orphans in collaboration with Karwan-e-Pakistan Trust and guided students through the
admissions process as part of the University Council. (Please relate more with the question –
What will you contribute to the Group? You have overloaded the para with your activities and
background but you have not touch-base the actual question. Relate all of your experience
and properly mention how these experiences have made you a stand-out candidate and what
you will give back to the group)

The SUSI program aligns with my passion for law and public policy. My unique experiences,
particularly in human rights and civic engagement, position me to contribute to diverse
perspectives in group discussions. The SUSI experience will enhance my understanding of
U.S. public policy, especially in the context of civic organizations and education. Ultimately,
this knowledge will equip me to contribute more effectively to my community in
Pakistan. (Add that this program will not only make you a cultural ambassador of Pakistan
and USA but also a bridge between both countries etc.)

Overall – Your statement is very well – 8/10. Make the marked changes and it will be perfect.
I wish you best of luck
