Guidelines for Project Work Writing:
1. Students should write the project allotted to you against your Roll No. only. If you change
your project, you will have to do the entire project again.

2. You can:
 Take guidance from teachers.
 Refer to text or reference books.
 Use different website.
 Refer to newspapers and magazines.

Sections of the Project:Every project must have the following sections:

1. Selection of the topic (Introduction): Youmust give a reason why you selected the
topic.

2. Importance of project topic:What is the importance of the project you are doing? How
is this project helping you to understand the problem?
For example, when you do the project on your topic, it will help you understand (i) the
cause of the problem, (ii) the effect this problem has on the environment, (iii) the solution
you give to reduce or eliminate the problem. So in the section titled Importance, you must
state the following:
o This project helps me to know what is _____________ (e.g. noise pollution, or soil
pollution, or e-waste,... etc)
o I found out what causes this problem.
o I investigated what is the effect of this problem on the environment (e.g. effect on people,
animals, or effect on water, soil, air, etc....)

3. Objective of project topic:Now explain the above reason for selection in more detail (in
6 - 8 lines)
o "To study the effect of Noise Pollution...", OR
o "To investigate the effect of water pollution...", OR
o "To understand..." OR
o "To get information..." OR
o "To find out..." OR
o "To compare..." OR
o "To acquire knowledge about....."

4. Methodology:Methodology means the methods you used to collect your information.

The variousmethods are:

o Observation Method: you see the problem such as dirty water coming from taps, or
pollutioncaused by a factory / bakery / restaurant in your area. Observe what is
happening – takephotographs on your mobile, use these in your project. Or you may
observe that duringfestivals there is lot of noise. So observation means what you see,
hear... This can also bedone by field study.

o Interview Method: You can interview people in a locality and ask them about the
problem. Forexample, you can ask them if they find noise pollution a server problem,
whether it shouldreduce, how to reduce a particular type of pollution, take their views /
opinion / advice onthese matters and write down what they say. Use this information in
your project.
o Questionnaire method: Sometimes people do not have the time to give an interview.
You canprepare a list of say 10 questions and give it to them. They can answer the
questions andreturn the questionnaire to you. So your methodology becomes
questionnaire.
o Survey of books, magazines, Internet: You can refer to newspapers and books,
magazinesand the Internet to collect information for your project.

5. Observation:What did you observe while doing the project? What is the effect
ofwater/soil/noise/e-waste pollution? How are people dealing with these problems? How
arehospitals managing medical waste? How are people dealing with problems of
pollution due totransport? How are tourists helping/harming our environment? How
plastic waste is disposed offand how is it recycled? What is being done with old, non-
working electronics goods like mobile phones, TVs, etc? How is solar energy reducing
the electricity bills? What are the benefits ordrawbacks of wind energy?, etc.

6. Analysis: Show analysis by drawing charts/graphs. For example, how air pollution is
increasingevery year? You can also draw tables to show numerical data. Comparisons
can be done - like
"Before and after" type of comparison. Some of the hints for analysis are:
o Draw charts, graphs
o Draw tables with numerical data
o use photographs to show the problem
o Give your solutions or suggestions to problem.

7. Conclusion:State your conclusion (result) - for example "I feel that ______is a severe
problemand if it is not solved/reduced, it can lead to ___________". Then give your
suggestion / solutionin brief.

8.References:
o Give a list of books that you have referred. (Title, Author, Publisher, Year of publication)
