1) Selection of the Project Topic (Introduction)- 2 Marks
• Instructions- (Students explain this point with the help of following subpoints. In
your project writing don’t mentioned this subpoints, instead of that you have to
explain this points with paragraphs.)

For example- Project topic- Air pollution in Thane city
1) Selection of the project topic (introduction)-
• My project topic is air pollution in Thane city. Air pollution is a mixture of
solid particles and gases in the air. Air pollution is the presence of substances
in the atmosphere that are harmful to the health of humans and other living
beings, or cause damage to the climate or to materials. Air pollution refers to
the release of pollutants into the air-pollutants which are detrimental to
human health and the planet as a whole. Car emissions, chemicals from
factories, dust, pollen and mold spores may be suspended as particles.
Ozone, a gas, is a major part of air pollution in cities.
• According to my roll number this topic is allotted by EVS teacher. I am leaving
in Thane city and I was observed air quality has been changed in Thane city,
number of air quality related problems like air pollution, health dieses and
etc. are also increasing, to understand about air quality index, causes,
effects, and prevention activity therefore, I am selected this project topic.
• My study area is Thane city. Thane city is a part of Mumbai metropolitan city. Thane
is located in Konkan region. Thane city is the 15th most populated city in India with a
population of 1,890,000 according to the 2011 census report.
According to topography in Thane city located near by 33 to 35 lakes, therefore
its also known as ‘Lake City’. In Thane towards west located Yeoor hills and part of
Sanjay Gandhi National park. Another hill is Parsik hill located in Mumbra ward. Thane
and Ulhas creek also is part of Thane city. Average annual rainfall is 2000-2500 mm and
humidity is 61-86%, making it a humid zone.
Thane for all practical purposes is a suburb of Mumbai is past and has passed.
Today city area is 147sq.kms. The areas surrounding the city are beautiful. The scenic
locales, old forts, boat rides and resorts make Thane a great getaway from Mumbai.
• At present in Thane city or India air quality index has been increasing. The current
air quality in Thane is 166 which is unhealthy or poor. Thane air is currently 17 times
above the WHO annual air quality guideline value.

Questionnaire method-
I am select a questionnaire method for my project work and therefore, I am Prepared
following 15 to 20 questions related to my project topics. Asked this questions to 20 peoples.
(Instructions for students- questions answer should be only yes/no format, start
questions with do, does, can, is word only. And in this point mentioned only questions
without answer)
For example- if your topic is ‘solar energy is a renewable source of energy’
Questions are as follows-
1) Do you know what is renewable source of energy?
2) Do you know how to generate solar energy?
3) Can solar energy is a renewable source of energy?
4) Can you used solar energy in your home?

I am select a questionnaire method for my project work and therefore, I am
Prepared following 15 questions related to my project topics. Asked this questions to 20
peoples.

1) Do you know what is air pollution?
2) Is green house gases like CO2, O3 etc. gases are responsible for air pollution?
3) Can deforestation is one of the causes of air pollution in Thane?
4) Do you know industrialization and urbanization is growing in Thane city?
5) Is this responsible for change air quality in Thane?
6) Does our population growth rate is also a one cause of air pollution?
7) Can you know because of air pollution we are suffering from asthma, lungs, heart,
skin related disease?

For e.g.
Result-
• In Thane city Air Quality Index has indicating poor or unhealthy air quality.
• In Thane air pollution has increasing because of growth in industrial area,
roads and other transportation mode also developed, increasing residential
area so going on deforestation like along Ghodbandar road, Kasarvadavli,
Upvan and etc. area.
• Because of air pollution change a climate, rainfall pattern, human health
problems, affects on wild life and number of problems are increasing.
