DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 10

Grade Level 10 Quarter Third Quarter

Region XII
Learning Area Chemistry
Teaching Date March 18, 2024

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learners demonstrate an understanding of the chemical
reactions associated with biological and industrial processes
affecting life and the environment.
B. Performance Standard The learners should be able to use any form of media,
present
chemical reactions involved in biological and industrial
processes affecting life and the environment.
C. Learning Competency Apply the principles of conservation of mass to chemical
reactions (S10MT-IVe-g-23)
D. Lesson Objectives At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:
1. classify and identify the chemical reaction type when
given its general form, an example, or a word
equation
2. explain the differences between the types of chemical
reactions
3. give some real-life examples of chemical reaction they
encounter everyday
II.CONTENT
A. Subject Matter Chemical Reactions
B. Integration GAD Integration – Gender and Sex Relationship Goals
English – Interpretation
Mathematics - Equation
C. Strategies Interactive learning, learning-by-doing, cooperative learning
D. Values Reliability, testability, accuracy, precision, generality,
simplicity of concepts, perseverance, cooperation
E. Materials Laptop, Smart TV, Internet connectivity, PowerPoint
Presentation, Activity sheets and materials

IV. LEARNING TASKS
1. Reviewing previous lesson or Elicit:
presenting the new lesson Guess the Word (5 minutes)
2. Establish a purpose for the What’s the word that links these four pictures?
lesson (5 sets) – price (1 ballpen)
2. Presenting Engage:
examples/instances of the  The teacher will present pictures that are associated
new lesson with the topic on Types of Chemical Reaction
 Let the students describe the pictures presented
(5 minutes)
3. Discussing new concepts and Explore:
practicing new skills #1 Classification of Chemical Reactions: The Soap Opera of
Chemistry (20 minutes)
Episode 1: Synthesis (Love at First Sight)
Episode 2: Decomposition (The Big Break Up)
Episode 3: Single Displacement (My Best Friend’s Girlfriend)
Episode 4: Double Displacement (The Revenge)
Episode 5: Combustion (The Player)
This activity will allow students to learn about the types of
chemical reactions as they read through a love story that
serves as a metaphor for the elements in the reactions.
4. Discussing new concepts and Explore:
practicing new skills #2 Choose Your Story (10 minutes)
 The students will play a game called “Choose Your
Story”.
 The teacher will show a story/scenario through
pictures, then the students will choose their ending
for each scenario that relates to the different chemical
reactions.
5. Developing mastery (leads to Explain:
Formative Assessment Guide Question:
Will you give examples of chemical reaction you
6. Finding practical encounter in your everyday living aside from the
applications of skills in daily pictures shown earlier?
living
7. Making generalizations and Elaborate:
abstractions about the lesson Collaborative Activity (10 minutes)
 Each group will be given baggies containing the
picture cards, reaction type cards, general form, an
example of chemical reaction, or a word equation.
 Students will discuss and debate about where the
cards will go.
 Students should be arguing and making a case to
why they felt that the card goes to a specific category
8. Evaluating learning Evaluation: Pen and Paper Assessment (5 minutes)
The teacher will give a 5-item multiple choices and 5-item
classification questions as formative assessment to the
students.
9. Additional activities for Extend:
application or remediation Answer the following questions correctly. Write it in your
Science Notebook.
1. What are the different factors affecting reaction rates?
Explain each factor briefly.

Reflection:
A. No. of learners achieve 80%:
B. No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation:
C. Did the remedial lessons work?
D. No. of learners who have caught up the lesson:
E. No. of learners who continue to require remediation:
F. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did this work?
G. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisor help me solve?
H. What innovation or localized materials did I used/discover which I wish to share with another
teacher?
