DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 10

(S Y 2022 – 2023)

Name of Teacher JANNET A. FUENTES Grade Level 10

Teaching Date/s ___________________, 2023 Section/s VENUS
Time 2:20 PM-3:40 PM Quarter/Semester 4
Apply the principles of conservation of mass to chemical reactions.
LEARNING COMPETENCY
(S10MT-IVe-g-23)
I – OBJECTIVES: Provided with varied learning activities, the learners with 75 % accuracy will be able to:
1. Classify reactions according to their types, based on how atoms are grouped or
A. Knowledge
regrouped.
B. Skills 2. Write chemical reactions according to the general formula.
C. Attitude/ Values 3. Concisely explain the law of conservation of matter.
II. CONTENT Types of Chemical Reactions
a. Reference/s and Learner's Manual, Teacher's Guide, activity guide, students tabulated data from act.2
Materials Needed "What's in a Reaction?"
III. PROCEDURE
A. Awareness Pretest

The teacher posts on the board set of words/phrases and students will be given time to
answer that ten-item pre-test in a one-fourth sheet of paper.
B. Activity Think-Pair-Share

The students will be working in pairs (or trios, if there are extras) to think, and share their
thoughts regarding the words/phrases that they were answering in the pre-test. They are
to write down their sharing in a sheet of paper.
Random sharing

The students will share to the class the result of their activity based on the following guide
questions:
1. What can you say about the words/phrases?
C. Analysis
2. Can you describe each one of them?
3. What is a chemical reaction?
4. When can we say that chemical reaction is taking place?
5. Give some other examples of events/situations in your daily life that involves
certain chemical reactions.
Presentation and Discussion of the Lesson

Chemical reactions can be classified according to the following types: Combination,

D. Abstraction Decomposition Reaction, Single Displacement Reaction, Double Displacement Reaction,
Combustion and Acid-Base Reaction.
 The teacher gives more examples of chemical reactions for students to practice
identifying which type does each belong.
Fill in the table the chemical equation and its corresponding type of chemical equation.
E. Application
Refer to the Learner's Material on page 413.
IV. EVALUATION/ Classify the following unbalanced chemical equations according to the six types of
ASSESSMENT chemical reactions. Refer to the Learner's Material on page 414.
V. ASSIGNMENT Read pp.414-418 in preparation for the next activity.
