Mixture - is a physical combination of two or more
substances that aren't chemically joined.

Homogeneous mixture- A mixture in which the

components are uniform in the whole solution, its
composition is the same throughout and it appears
like a single substance.

Heterogeneous mixture - a mixture in which the

composition is not uniform throughout the mixture.

substances together. It is the product of the random
distribution of one substance through another
without any chemical reaction, as distinct for a
compound. Like in halo-halo and wet clothes where
water is mixed with the fabric.

Mixed materials can be classified depending
on the appearance of the resulting mixture.

 When the solid materials is mixed with other

solid material, each of the combined
materials can be easily identified or
distinguished from one another. Such mixture
is called heterogeneous mixture.

 Some solid materials, when mixed with other

solids, cannot be distinguished from each
other. If the resulting mixture looked the
same throughout, such mixture is called
homogeneous mixture.

 The properties of each solid material in the

mixture do not change. The size, shape, color
of each solid material remain the same even
after mixing.
