Before starting this guide we want to clarify we will NOT be talking about teeth, teeth can impact
your jaw width, symmetry, and other problems, we will be releasing a full teeth guide sometime
soon but to fully use these techniques you will need straight teeth, this can be achieved via
Invisalign or braces. Some teeth malocclusions may affect your chewing more than others.

Jaw
When we talk about the “jaw” we are talking about a bunch of different areas of your
lower third combined into one we have labeled each part in this chart and we will also
break them down one by one.

The most important sections of the jaw in our opinion is the chin and the width of your
mandible.

Ramus
The ramus is the vertical long part of the jaw. Ideally, it should be long, defined, visible
and should undercut the mouth. This part of the jaw is genetic but severely contributes
to the gonion angle. Often when someone has a high ramus their gonion angle is very
steep which is unattractive.

Gonion
The gonion is located at the back corner of the jaw and consists of three components:
the gonion itself, the gonion angle, and gonion inversion/extroversion.

A less steep gonion angle is generally linked to a more attractive and balanced jawline,
but it is primarily influenced by genetic factors.
Ideally, gonions are more aesthetically pleasing when extroverted rather than
introverted.

An extroverted gonion makes your jaw more masculine and wider, while an introverted
gonion can make your jaw look more narrow

Chin
The chin is a very attractive overlooked part of every male's face. Ideally, you want it to
be thick, straight, and projected.

Hyoid Skin
The hyoid skin refers to the area beneath your chin. Ideally, it should remain tight and
firm to enhance the overall look of your jawline and neck. As we age, factors like
reduced skin elasticity can lead to sagging in this area.

The mandible is the lower jawbone which includes the the gonion, ramus, and chin

Introduction

This portion of the guide was created so you can self-assess yourself, if you have
a general idea of what you need to improve on you can skip it. We already
covered a lot in the definitions portion but there are some extra factors that go
into Jaw Aethetics. The most important being masculinity, and jaw shape. These
two factors are highly attractive.

Shape

The Jaw Shape Is a trapezoid-like look. Anything too wide will look too square.
Often men think this is attractive but it is simply the male gaze. While it can look
good it is not ideal. Anything too short makes your entire jaw look narrow.

Most people will have a more round narrow jaw, this happens often because most
people do not have good facial definition and their massater muscles are not developed

To get this shape most people will need to grow their jaw width. Although once you grow
your masseter muscles your jaw will only fit the shape you already have, so its
somewhat genetics.

Masculine Vs Feminine

When looking at the facial differences between males and females there are a
couple things that severely stand out. One of the most dramatic differences are
the jaw structures.

Females with stronger jaws are often seen as models, while females with softer
features are seen as more feminine and cute. Unfortunately this is not the case
for males. Males with softer dainter jawlines are simple unattractive while men
with sharper, more projected wider jaws are Ideal.

Mens jaws are often times more defined, and wider. Men with masculine jaws
always have a strong wide chin aswell.

Take a look at this chart, as the face gets more feminine the mans jaw and chin
get more narrow.

What Are Your Masseter Muscles?


Your masseter muscles are powerful facial muscles responsible for key functions,
primarily involved in chewing and biting. These muscles are located on each side of
your jaw, running from your cheekbones down to the angle of your jaw. Their primary
function is to elevate the mandible (lower jaw) to close the mouth and exert the force
needed for grinding and breaking down food.

In today modern world, there is a growing concern that these crucial muscles are
becoming weaker in newer generations due to dietary changes. Traditionally, diets
consisted of tougher, foods that demanded more chewing, naturally strengthening the
masseter muscles. However, as diets have shifted towards softer, more processed
foods that require less chewing effort, the masseter muscles are not being exercised to
their full potential. This trend could potentially lead to reduced muscle tone and
definition in the jawline.

Jaw Width Fundamentals


The only natural way to grow your jaw width naturally is by growing your jaw muscles.
Muscle growth comes fastest when a few fundamental techniques are applied.

#1 Sets and Reps

#1 Repetitions (Reps): "Repetitions" or "reps" are the individual instances of


performing a particular exercise or movement within a set. In the context of strength
training, one rep of an exercise typically involves completing one full cycle of the
movement, such as lifting a weight and then lowering it. For the jaw, one rep would be
biting down on gum or a jaw product once.

Sets: A "set" refers to a specific number of consecutive repetitions (reps) of an exercise


or activity performed without resting. Sets are used to structure a workout routine, and
they help break down the overall volume of exercise into manageable segments. For
example, if you do 3 sets of 12 reps for a particular exercise, you perform that exercise
12 times in a row (reps) without resting, and then you repeat this sequence two more
times, for a total of 3 sets.

In summary, "sets" refer to the number of cycles or rounds of an exercise you perform
consecutively, and "reps" represent the individual instances of performing that exercise
within each set.

#2 Progressive Overload: is the principle of gradually increasing the intensity or


challenge of your exercise over time. In other words, to maximize growth and

improvement, you need to continually increase the demands on your muscles or body.
When applying progressive overload to jaw training, consider chewing gum as an
example. If you initially chew gum for 1 minute to work on your jaw muscles, the
concept of progressive overload suggests that you should aim to chew gum for more
than 1 minute to stimulate muscle growth and adaptation effectively. This gradual
increase in chewing duration challenges your jaw muscles, promoting their development
over time. Track your time chewing so you can do more than you did the day before and
so you can see your improvement.

#3 Response to new Stimuli: When you're new to jaw training, you're likely to
experience rapid progress, often referred to as "noobie gains." In this initial phase, your
jaw muscles respond quickly to the new stimulus because they're not accustomed to the
training. This means that you may notice significant growth and improvement when you
begin jaw training.

#4 Pushing Close to Failure : Pushing close to failure in jaw training becomes easier
as you progressively overload your muscles. If you're consistently doing the same reps
and sets without feeling a burn in your masseter muscles, it's likely you've made
minimal progress unless you're new to jaw training. Keep pushing yourself, but if you
experience jaw pain, stop immediately, as it could indicate an issue with your technique
or intensity.

Growing Your Masseter Muscles
So, growing your masseter muscles, how do you do it?
Well first, if you want passive growth, chew harder foods. But for significant growth thats
not enough, you need to pick a gum and use a routine.

Track your sets and reps, push harder than you did last time, gains will come easier if
your new, and push your self close to failure every time.

Food
Chewing hard food is a way to passively upgrade your jawline. The
shows the best realistic options to chew.

List of harder foods:


Meats and Seafood:
Fatty Steak: A great source of protein and requires considerable chewing, especially
if grilled or pan-seared.
Beef Jerky: Dried and tough, it provides a good workout for the jaw.
Grilled Octopus: Firm texture that's both tasty and requires a lot of chewing.

Fruits:
Pears: Especially when slightly underripe, they provide a good resistance.
Apples: Crisp varieties can be especially hard to bite into.
Dried Mango Slices: The drying process makes them tougher than fresh mango.


Vegetables:


Raw Vegetables In General: Many raw veggies offer the crunch and resistance
needed. Raw Carrots: Especially whole carrots as opposed to baby carrots. These
also have beta carotene which will give you a natural orange tint over time
Celery: Naturally fibrous, providing a good chew.
Raw Broccoli Stalks: The stalks are harder than the florets.


Nuts and Seeds:
Raw Almonds: Almonds in their natural, unroasted state can be quite hard. Pumpkin


Seeds: Especially when unshelled.
Sweets and Snacks: Taffy or Toffee: Both are chewy and sticky, requiring significant
jaw effort.
Hard Caramel Candies: These can be sucked on, but biting and chewing them is a
workout. Dense Granola Bars: Especially those with whole nuts and dried fruits.
Licorice Twists: They’re chewy and can give the jaw a good workout.

Others:
Whole Raw Coconut: The white flesh inside is hard and requires a lot of chewing.
Bagels: Especially when they're not super fresh, they can be quite dense to bite
through.
Hard Cheese: Varieties like aged cheddar or parmesan can be tough to chew.
Whole Grain Bread: Particularly those with a crusty exterior and dense interior.

Unlike hard gum, which is superior for jawline exercise, normal gum offers distinct
benefits. Its variety of appealing flavors makes it a more enjoyable choice. Additionally,
it's budget-friendly and still engages jaw muscles to some extent.

Jaw Exercisers
There are two main types of Jaw Exercisers.
The first kind is a ball you put in your mouth. THIS IS HORRIBLE. We won't even go
over the pros and cons because the cons are so bad. The problem is you open your
mouth way to wide. You will get jaw problems and jaw clicking using these. This is also
placed on your front teeth which are NOT used to chew hard foods traditionally. This
can lead to teeth damage.

The alternative is a smaller silicone product you put on the ends of your mouth.
You no longer need to open your mouth very wide and they are placed on the proper
teeth made for chewing hard food.
This way you there is a much smaller chance of teeth and jaw-related issues

A beginner routine for growing your masseter muscles :
Make an effort to chew harder foods. Things like steak are your best friend
Chew normal chewing gum three times a week for 1 hour minimum

Keep in mind this will not provide you significant growth but if you stick to it for long

Ideal Growth
An Ideal Growth routine for growing your masseter muscles :
Hard chewing gum every other day for 1-2 hours per day
At the end of every week, skip chewing and do jaw training
Routine being

Long Term

If you are chewing food every day your progress will eventually get slower, this typically
happens around the 6 month mark. You have a couple of options once this happens.
You can stop chewing gum for a couple of months (Our recommendation 2 months) and
then continue chewing. Or if you're satisfied with your growth, you can take 6-12 months
off of chewing altogether. You will not lose a lot of jaw gains because you will still be
working the muscle. Either way, we recommend 1-2 month breaks in between your
chewing periods.

You may never reach your desired jaw width, after about 2 years of chewing you will
make little to no progress, after that, you will need other alternative surgical options if
you want more jaw width.

What is Jaw Definition?

Jaw definition refers to the sharpness, and prominence in your jaw area. Facial
definition also shows a visual separation between the lower jaw and the neck,
contributing to an attractive and well-defined facial appearance.

Key Elements of Jaw Definition:


Muscle Tone: The size and development of the masseter muscles play a significant
role in shaping the jawline. Well-developed masseter muscles contribute to a more
defined appearance.

Let me give you an example. Who looks more lean, a man with no muscle mass who is
skinny or a man with the same percentage body fat who is jacked? Here's a visual
representation.

Clearly, this man looks more defined but they are both the same body fat percentage.
He looks more defined because the muscle is BULGING creating the appearance of
more definition.

Subcutaneous Fat: The amount of fat beneath the skin in the lower face and neck area
can affect jaw definition. Lower levels of subcutaneous fat tend to result in a more
chiseled jawline. This can be reduced by getting lower body fat levels, it also reduces
over time slightly.

Bone Structure: The underlying bone structure, particularly the mandible (lower
jawbone), influences the way your definition is perceived. Much like muscle tone the
more protruding your jaw is the more defined its going to look. This is almost entirely
genetic.

Body Fat Percentage: The percentage of body fat directly impacts facial definition.
Lower body fat levels contribute to a leaner, more defined face. This is the best thing
you can do to get your jaw defined. Refer to our body fat % chart to generally assess
your own personal body fat.

Water Retention: Your face will never look lean if you are bloated. We will go into
reducing water retention in upcoming sections. (This can be done by taking diuretics)

There are multiple ways to do this, the easiest way is by using a free app called
“Cronometer”
It also tracks protein and micronutrients which is good. The best part about this app is
you can scan the BARCODE on the stuff your eating and it automatically tracks it for
you.

First you need to find your maintenance calories. The app finds your maintenance
calories. This website also helps you find your maintenance calories CLICK ME and
type in your stats.

Next to lose weight you need to eat below your maintenance. A good goal to set is .5
pounds per week lost if you're a normal weight. Adjust your calorie deficit accordingly. If
you are overweight you may want to lose more than .5 pounds per week.

Track the calories you're eating by using the app, or a similar app like myfitnesspal. If
you don't want to use one you can look up the calories your eating for each food and
total them up. Keep in mind if your just estimating your calories you may be slowing
your progress. (This can be inaccurate)

Just to give one final example let's say your 5’9 170 pounds your maintenance calories
are 2,610. If you eat 2,300 calories you will lose weight and get a more defined jawline.

Why? Because this should only be done on special occasions. Your going to be
urinating every 30 minutes - an hour. Your sleep quality is going to be worse going to
the bathroom, this is not something healthy long term. You might have an electrolyte
imbalance and you are also putting strain on your kidney.

Last in severe cases you might get hyponatremia (excessive water intake can lead to
hyponatremia, a condition characterized by dangerously low sodium levels in the blood.
Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, headache, confusion, and, in extreme cases,
seizures, coma, or even death) This will only happen if you drink a ridiculous amount of
water, if your drinking 1.5 gallons per day you will be fine.

Because of this added risk. Again we want to stress this should only be done on special
occasions and we do not recommend trying it if you have any pre existing health issues.
This isnt even worth trying if you are over weight

Body builders only ever do this extreme water miniumpation during “peak week” this

So what is water cutting? Water cutting is a technique that body builders use before a

Hard VS Soft Mewing

Everything that we’ve covered sofar is considered soft mewing. Hard mewing is the act
of pushing / pressing hard with your tongue against your palette, your tongue will get
very tired fast but some theories show that hard mewing may give you greater mewing
progress.

This hasn't been proven to be effective, and if it does in fact give more progress
compared to soft mewing it will again only happen if you're still in development.

Step #1: Start by making sure your tongue is correctly positioned against the roof of
your mouth, covering as much surface area as possible.

Step #2: Press your tongue firmly against your palate. The force should be noticeably
more than what you apply during soft mewing.

Step #3: After a couple seconds this makes your tongue extremely tired give your
tongue a break for about 10-30 seconds.

Step #4: Repeat the process

There are a couple things you should make sure of.

Make sure your tongue doesn't exert pressure against your front teeth. This can lead to
dental misalignment over time.

The back of your tongue should be the primary source of pressure, not the front. This
ensures the molar region receives adequate force, which is essential for potential

Mewing unevenly means that the pressure from the tongue against the palate is not
distributed equally. This can cause one side of the palate to expand or develop more

about the pressure your putting across your tongue, and readjust it accordingly.
Slanted Neck Posture
To fix Slanted Face Posture theres one neck stretch you should do often. Keep your
shoulders back and slowly look all the way to your left, move with your neck, and face,
not with your eyes. Do the same thing to your right side and you will realize you can
move your neck more on side side compared to the other.

Stretch out that side daily until both sides are equal.

Uneven Talking

When you talk, the muscles around your mouth move. Some people talk to the side
instead of talking straight, this can lead to asymmetry over time and is hard to fix. Take
a phone, and record yourself talking. Watch the recording back and analysis the way
your mouth moves. Focus on talking straight instead of talking to the side.

Down Lighting

Downwards lighting or downlighting is the use of lighting directly above you. This
is often used in the body-building community and can make a huge difference in
your physique.

But we can also use it for our jaw when taking pictures.

Position the light source above you. Ideally, this will be a white light. To create
downlighting, place a light source (such as a lamp or overhead light) above your
head, slightly angled downward toward your face. This positioning allows the light
to cast shadows that highlight your facial features, including your jawline.

Make sure your surrounding area is dark or dim for the lamp to create shadows
across your face.

If you move the light from downwards to slightly sideways your face you will get
nice dynamic lighting that will contrast your face.

Contrast Lighting

This is a lighting technique we have developed ourselves. It consists of having a


black / dark background behind you, while putting light in front of you.

- First get a black background, turning off the lights in your bedroom will do.
Next, get a source of light, ideally this shouldn't be too bright, using a
computer screen is ideal but you can use a lamp if you have to.
- If your using a computer screen pull up a colored background, a white
screen will do.
- Next angle the light very slightly away from you. You should have
contrasted shadows over your face. Then that's the look.

Almost all male models suck in as well as bite their cheeks, it makes your jaw
more defined, the trick is to do it when taking pictures taken from a front angle.
You should be mewing when pictures are taken from the side.

We all want that subtle definition without it being noticeable that your sucking in
your cheeks. So how do we find that middle ground?

Close your mouth and make your teeth touch. Next slightly open your teeth,
make the gap small enough to fit a piece of gum in between them. Next suck in

building show.

They do this because darker skin looks more defined, it has more visible cuts
and striations across the body. We can apply this same logic to your face, now
we dont suggest getting an extreme tan because tanning is damaging your skin.

Instead of wearing makeup we can use tanning cream to give yourself this extra
shadow. This is going to take a lot of trial and error because you need to use just
the right amount of product to blend in with your actual skin.

Impacts of Bruxism:

Intro
There are so many misconceptions, scams and snake oil associated with the mens
beauty industry, so were going to debunk a bunch of bad products and scams starting
with the most common ones.

Gua Sha + Jade Roller


Guashas are used to drain lymantic fluid in your face, however drainage is so minimal
its barley noticeable, ontop of that the SMALL effects you get from using them last for
20 minutes maxium. If you want to use your Gua Sha and Jade Roller for messages
because they feel good, go ahead but dont expect any signitfant facial definition, jaw
growth, or long term effects.

Results are often faked, or exaggerated with things like lighting, angles, cheek biting
and even makeup. Alot of these creators promoting the tools want views and purchases
from the Gua Shas they are selling because they make a commission or fully own the
product.

More often than not, these products are dropshipped from China aswell. Infact if your
favorite influencer is selling these more likely than not you are not getting a good deal.
Gua Shas are all made the same, the material also does not matter. Gua sha are made
of Jade and Resin, Jade being more expensive without any additional benefits.
Price wise the Gua Sha is most price effective from amazon, the cheeper the better.
The only difference between a cheep Gua Sha and expensive Gua Sha is how
much money your giving to the business owner.

Face Exercises
Do these work? Almost never. Are they reasonable, and time effective. Absolutely not.
You can make as many kissy faces as you want, this will never get you significant
results.

Ontop of that some of these exercises make you look worse, some even being
straightup dangerous.
For exmaple its a common exerise to blow your cheeks up, making yourself look like a
chipmunk. This can potentially make your cheeks flabby, puffy, baggy and swollen.
Bagpipe players develop this often. Its a condition known as "Piper's Pouch" or
"Bagpipe Cheek." This condition occurs due to the continuous pressure exerted on the
cheeks while playing the bagpipes. It's not a serious medical condition but it affects your
facial aethetics if you do it often.

For some reason these videos get tons of views on youtube. Often times creators do
this to boost their following, but dont be fooled. These are not realistic and probably
wont give you the results you desire.

Mewing
We already debunked the famous mewing animation and chin growth but we wanted to
include it AGAIN because there are so many misconceptions about mewing.

There is no sciecntic data showing mewing works at all. All results are from anecdotal
evidence. The problem with that is many influencers and content creators spread lies
just to sell their mewing courses, product or get views. Mewing will not make your chin
less rececesed. Your tounge is pressing on the roof of your mouth, mewing making your
chin chin grow forwards makes no sense.

Ontop of all of this, if mewing does work, it will only have significant results on your face,
if your young because your bones are more malleable. Mewing has good temporary
results on your hyoid area and has some health benefits so you should still mew, but it
may not give you the jawline results youve been expecting. (We dont want to give you
any false hope)

Jaw Exercisers
We also debunked these, but we are going to go over it again one more time because
they get sold often.

NEVER get the jaw exersicers that go infront of your mouth.

The first one is dangerous

“Chew Hard Foods”


This one isnt a scam or a misconception necessarily often times influencers just give
people false hope. If you dont naturally have broad massater muscles, “Chewing Hard
Foods” most likely will not make any significant improves. Sure its good for passive jaw
growth, but more often than not its just a lazy attempt to get more watch time. Especially
if they dont actually list the foods your supposed to eat. Prehistorically humans would
eat raw uncooked tough meet, hide and uncooked food. Things like chewy meat grow
our massater muscles and reshaped our jaw, unfortunately our current food options are
scare when it comes to hard food. Most people cannot afford to eat steak and while
there are other alternatives eating things like bagels or coconut most likely will not give
you the jaw growth results you desire.

Raise Testosterone
This one isnt completely untrue but its very misleading. Jaw growth is primarily
influenced by genetic factors and growth hormones, with a particular role played by
growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) during adolescence.
Testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) are androgens (male sex hormones) that

do play a role in the development of secondary sexual characteristics, including facial
hair growth and deepening of the voice during puberty.

However, there's no direct evidence to suggest that increasing testosterone or DHT


levels in adulthood will lead to significant jaw growth. Jaw growth is largely determined
by genetics, and while hormones like testosterone and DHT can influence facial
features to some extent during puberty, once this growth phase is complete, the
potential for natural jaw growth diminishes significantly. If someone has concerns about
their jawline or facial appearance, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional
or a plastic surgeon who can provide guidance and discuss potential options for
improvement, which may include orthodontic treatment, jaw surgery, or other cosmetic
procedures.

Increasing testosterone levels can potentially affect the closure of growth plates. This is
due to the relationship between estrogen and growth plates. When estrogen levels
spike, it can lead to the closure of growth plates. In response to elevated testosterone,
the body may produce more estrogen as a counterbalance. This phenomenon is why
individuals who use performance-enhancing drugs, such as bodybuilders, may
experience conditions like gynecomastia, which involves the growth of breast tissue due
to an excess of estrogen.

Short Term :

Ice your face for about 5 minutes

Shave your face fully, if you have a good jawline if not, grow a stubble and trim
down when your beard gets long.

Be in a caloric deficit to achieve facial leanness

Take Diuretics OR Water Cut before a special event coming up

Experiment with tanning cream, or bronzer

Take pictures with good jaw lighting. Use angles that make your jaw look better

Getting to a lower body fat %, chewing, and debloating your face are the most
