A very happy day

I usually wake up before my alarm clock goes off, but today I didn’t. I think I was so tired from yesterday.
The day before, which was Sunday, was a really happy day for me. It was my birthday and I thought my
dad would take us out for a meal or take me shopping for a present like he usually does.

This year was different though! In the morning, he pretended that he was going to take us to my favourite
restaurant for lunch, but he had another plan. We were on our way to the restaurant but he drove straight
past it.

We were all so surprised and confused and thought he’d made a mistake. My dad had kept his plan a
secret from everyone, including Mum. To be honest, Mum isn’t very good at keeping secrets. About one
hour later we arrived at an adventure park. The one I’d always wanted to go to.

Dad had bought the tickets online and we had a free pass to everything in the park. It’s Halloween this
week so the theme was Halloween Spooktacular. Dad knows I like creepy and scary rides, so he thought
this would be a good place to go for a birthday treat.

The first place we went to was the Haunted House. You go into the house on a boat and it’s very dark.
Strange creatures appear from nowhere and touch you. There are also loud noises which are really scary.
After this we went on many more scary rides. On one ride we all had to dress up as ghosts which was
great fun! At the end of the day we were so tired because we didn’t stop all day.
