VISICRYL 828

Chemical Nature : Visicryl 828 is and aqueous APEO & FORMALDEHYDE FREE Acidic
cross linked acrylic thickener for water based paints, textile flocking
and printing and printing ink manufacturing applications. Once neutralized
with alkali to pH 8 this will turn into a high viscous gel like material.

Neutralization of V828
:Dilute Visicryl 828 with appropriate amount of water. Then add alkali
(Ammonium hydroxide, Sodium hydroxide, Potassium hydroxide etc)
solution under adequate mixing to avoid localized thickening . Bring the
mass pH to about 8 and homogenize well to get the required increase in
viscosity to form gel like appearance.
 Application

FIELD OF APPLICATION :Visicryl 828 is used as an in-situ thickener in water based paints by first
incorporating and dispersing well along with other ingredients and then
bringing pH to about 8 at the end to get enough uniform thickening. It
can also be used in textile flocking and printing applications to get
required viscosity in the similar manner.

PROCESSING : First disperse well diluted Visicryl 828 in the composition

- Then raise pH with alkali to about 8 under enough stirring and
homogenizing.
- Suitable defoamer, in required quantity, is to be added to take care of
foam during processing.
- Biocides need to be included in the formulation to guard against
micro-organism growth.

General safety precautions such as goggles, gloves, and face shields should be used while handling Visicryl 828.

Industrial Hygiene : Visicryl 828 is not harmful for the purpose for which it is intended
and processed. It may irritate skin and mucous membrane on
prolonged contact.

Labeling : Visicryl 828 is non hazardous and doesn’t contain substances

which have implication for labeling under regulations.

Storage : Visicryl 828 has a shelf life of 6 months from the date of manufacture,
provided it is stored under shade, away from direct heat and
sunlight and well protected from freezing.

Packing : Bulk in tankers, flexi,240/220kg HDPE Drums.
