Karaoke Place Fire in Tegal, 6 People Died

A well-known karaoke entertainment venue in Tegal City caught fire. The Tegal
City Satpol PP Fire Brigade said two female song guides died in the incident. The
entertainment venue called New Orange Karaoke, located on Jalan Veteran, caught fire
on Monday (15/1/2024) morning. A total of 13 employees, including song guides,
were trapped in the fire.

As a result of this incident, two of the 13 people died. The two victims were
female song guides. Meanwhile, others are still in the process of being evacuated and
others have been rescued. The victims were then evacuated to Kardinah Hospital,
Tegal City.

Head of Tegal City Satpol PP Fire and Rescue Division, Sugeng Riyadi, said that
the number of victims, both injured and dead, is still uncertain, because currently they
are still in the process of being evacuated to the nearest hospital.

Sugeng emphasized that he had only confirmed that the number of victims was
two. According to him, currently the evacuation and data collection process is still
ongoing. "Two people (victims) have been confirmed, all of whom were song guides.
This could increase because the evacuation process is still ongoing," said Sugeng.

As for the cause of the fire, Sugeng explained, the fire was thought to be due to a
short circuit. However, for certainty he is waiting for the results of the investigation
from the police.

Meanwhile, a song guide, Bela Sofiani, who survived said that five of his friends
died in the fire. "Meanwhile, five of the song guide's friends were killed. The others
survived, and there were still others who were injured," said Bela Sofiani. Bela said
that when the incident happened, he was outside so he could avoid accidents.
According to him, the victims were trapped because they were sleeping.
