Topic: DATA MANAGEMENT: MEASURES OF RELATIVE POSITION (Z-SCORES,
PERCENTILES, QUARTILES, BOX-AND-WHISKERS PLOT)

ASSIGNMENT:

DIRECTION: Copy the following and solve. Separate each task and submit them on Friday, March 22, 2024.

A. Test scores. Which of the following three test scores is the highest relative score?

1. A score of 65 on a test with a mean of 72 and a standard deviation of 8.2

2. A score of 102 on a test with a mean of 130 and a standard deviation of 18.5
3. A score of 605 on a test with a mean of 720 and a standard deviation of 116.4.

was higher than the scores of 3952 of the students who took the examination.
What is the percentile for Dan’s score?

C. Commute to school. A survey was given to 18 students. One question asked about the one-way
distance the student had to travel to attend college. The results, in kilometers,
are shown in the following table.

Kilometers Traveled to Attend College

12 18 4 5 26 41 1 8 10
10 3 28 32 10 85 7 5 15

Find the first, second, and third quartiles, the Xmin, and Xmax for the data.
