History came from the Greek word historia

Its origins came from the myths and traditions of
early people that were passed from generations. With this, history is considered as
one of the oldest social science disciplines. It has been reported that the first writers
of history are the Greeks, and one of them is Herodotus, who is known as the father
of history.
History scholars have defined history differently. The following are some of
the definitions given by the scholars of what is history and its scope:

Overall, from the above definitions, history can be defined as the study of the
significant records of the past that involves meaningful story of humankind,
answering questions of what, when, how and why events happened, and who were
involved.
