The Effects of Flood

by Jeric Nichole R. Aviguetero

Flood is a phenomenon that can cause tremendous damage to mankind.

They can ruin houses, roads, and buildings. Floods can take down trees and
cause landslides. They often leave mud, sand, and debris behind. It can take
months to clean up after a devastating flood.
While natural causes are the primary factors behind floods, human
activities can also contribute to them. Too much garbage thrown or dumped in
dikes and irrigations can also cause water to rise. Additionally, deforestation,
which means cutting down many trees in an area, can reduce the land's ability to
absorb water, making it more prone to flooding.
