I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, 95% of the students are expected to:
a. identify the roles that religion has influenced Filipino family values;
b. internalize the relevance of religion in shaping Filipino family values; and
c. perform the different roles that shapes Filipino family values.

B. Development of the Lesson

1. Activity:
The teacher will present five phrases of riddles. The students will be divided
into 3 groups, and each group will brainstorm the answer to the riddle,
which they will answer together as a team within 30 seconds.

2. Analysis
The teacher will ask the following question:
a. What have you observed with the activity?
b. Have you ever encountered those words?
c. What is really the idea that each word wants to convey?
d. Based on the activity, what could be our lesson for today?

3. Abstraction
The teacher will discuss the topic based on the following:
a) Role of Religion in Shaping Filipino Family Values.
 Religion is crucial in shaping the values and traditions of Filipino
families, with Catholicism as the dominant faith. Religious
practices, such as attending Mass and observing religious
holidays, reinforce family ties and provide a sense of community.

b) Roles of Religion in Shaping Filipino Family Values

1. Emphasis on respect for elders
 In Filipino culture, respect for elders is highly valued,
and this is greatly influenced by the teachings of religion.
2. Importance of family unity
 Religion also plays a vital role in promoting the unity
and solidarity of families.
3. Focus on morality and ethics
 Religion places a high emphasis on morality and ethics,
and these values have been instilled in Filipino families.
4. Celebration of special occasions
 Religion plays a significant role in celebrating special
occasions such as weddings, baptisms, and fiestas.
5. Sense of community
 Religion has also fostered a strong sense of community
in the Philippines.

d) The importance of religion in shaping Filipino family values

 Religion has been a major influence in Filipino family life for
centuries. From Catholicism to Islam and Buddhism, different
religions have shaped the values, beliefs, and traditions of
Filipino families. Religion has also played an important role in
shaping the culture of the Philippines and its people.

While religious practices are still an important part of Filipino


families today, there have also been challenges and changes in
their roles over the years. Despite this, religion continues to be
an integral part of Filipino family life and culture.
4. Application
The teacher will group the students into 3. Each group will create their own
scenario that shows the different roles of religion in shaping Filipino family
values. They will be given 15 minutes for preparation and 3 minutes to
present.
