CLOUD STORAGE SERVICES 2
In the current digital era, cloud storage has become a technological alternative to
permanent storage of multimedia files, documents and other types of files. The ability to have
cloud services in smart phones has even made the access to these cloud storage services much
portable due to the ease of carrying smart phone and tablet devices (Boukhobza, 2012). There are
various types of cloud storage service in the market and they are available across various
platforms including iOS and Android. Three of these services include Dropbox, Google Drive
and Amazon Cloud Drive. There are both similarities and differences between these services
based on the storage restrictions, provision of free storage, pricing strategies and the platforms
supported.
Google Drive, Amazon Cloud Drive and Dropbox are services with some comparable
features. All of them for example support two of the most popular smart phone platforms
including iOS and Android (Mitroff, 2016). This means that a user can access their account
created from one platform in the other. Additionally, the three services provide for monthly or
annual payment plans, each of which has a different rating in terms of the storage allocation.

Amazon Cloud Drive does not provide free storage. For $10 every month, users can access
Dropbox cloud storage of up to 1 terabyte. On the other hand, Google Drive offers monthly
subscriptions of $2 for 100 gigabytes and $10 per month for 1 terabytes. On the case of Amazon
Cloud Drive, $12 per year is worth unlimited storage of photos (Mitroff, 2016).
Looking at these similarities and differences, it appears there is no specific criteria that
clearly show the best of the services. However, some focus on the subscription plans shows that

for only $12 dollars a year, one can backup all the photos all year round. This makes Amazon
Cloud Drive is the most cost effective when it comes to the storage allocation. As such, it would
