WHAT IS CLOUD
STORAGE?

Cloud data storage (CS) is a special

model of data storage, in which the
latter are stored not on a specific media
or server, but on distributed servers in
the network
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A
CLOUD AND A NON-CLOUD?

Let's imagine that we rented a hosting that is

accessed via FTP. After all, we can upload our
files to the FTP server and get access to them.
How is regular FTP different from the cloud?

BLOCK STORAGE

Block storage is used by corporate applications

such as databases or resource scheduling systems.
A typical example is Amazon Elastic Block
Storage (EBS).
OBJECT

Object storage - used to

A typical example of such
storage is Amazon Simple

BACKUP AND RECOVERY

Cloud server backup is a necessity for many organizations today

because they store most or all of their business-critical data and
applications on cloud servers.
Cloud sync providers include Box, Dropbox, Google Drive and
Microsoft OneDrive.
SOFTWARE
DEVELOPMENT AND
TESTING

Software development and testing often requires

duplicate storage environments. It is costly and
time-consuming to create such conditions, using
the cloud is much cheaper.
The use of cloud resources is a common practice
among software developers.
DATA MIGRATION

Cloud migration is the process of

moving digital business operations
into the cloud.
A lot of companies have already transitioned to the cloud, cloud migrations are
increasingly taking place within the cloud, as companies migrate between different
cloud providers (known as cloud-to-cloud migration).
BIG DATA

Big Data requires large resources - after all,

this very large data needs to be stored
somewhere. And the cloud provides
virtually unlimited resources. That is why
cloud storage is optimal when working with
Big Data
SHARING DATA

Imagine that the data is stored on a server within an enterprise network. In this case, you
need to organize a VPN on the server to get access to the data from outside. It is difficult,
but if you only need access to certain shared files, the documents are published in the
cloud, and they are given access to everyone who needs them.
