RE: DRAINAGE PROBLEMS IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAMPROVISION OF


SCHOOL BUS SERVICES

We are final year undergraduates at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and currently
taking a course on Multidisciplinary Approach for Sustainable Development, PS3403,. In
this courseAt the moment, we are conducting doing a Community problem Solving
project based on various discipline to focus on the environment matters on “Drainage
problems in kampong-kampong in BruneiTransportation of school children to and from
schools and home”. As part of the course, we would like to interview share with you
about this matterour findings from our project so far. The aims of the interview are (1) we
want to know is there rules and regulations about this drainage system, (2) Are there any
complains from the community and is there action been done? And (3) How JKR handle
the drainage problems? and For that reason, we would like to express our concern on
the matter aboveask for some response from the Ministry of Education on this matter.

We have done our researched on the use of privately-owned cars for picking up and
sending their children to schools. Some of the main findings We also have done our
survey on the 14th September 2006 to 16th September 2006, at University Brunei
Darussalam area and also at school compound in Kg. Perpindahan Lambak Kanan,
Berakas. We that we have found out that are that most parents are using privately-own
cars to send and pick up their children to and from schools and (1) this which are could
be contributing to high car ownerships and high car fuel use in Brunei Darussalam; .
From the survey, we also managed to find out that parents are(2) they are not having
much very awareness on of the problems it may they may cause especially to
environment and people living near the schools (3) WHAT ELSE? Your title says
provision of school buses but you have not said anything about it in your letter.??.
We aim to create a sustainable environment in regarding the above matters. HereWith
this letter, we attached our report on the aspect concerned for more if you need more
details on the project.
From this, wWe hope your department premise would take consideration the
suggestions that we have highlighted that could be fulfilled by the Jabatan Kerja
RayaMinistry of Education on this matter.s
