Learn English: Living

Abroad and Degrees

of Certainty
Student Writing Practice

Write about a time you traveled abroad. Where did you go? What did you do? If
you have never traveled abroad, write about a time you traveled to a new city in
your home country.

Write eight to ten sentences. Use degrees of certainty, intensifiers, and used
to/use to.

Example:
My friends and I traveled to South Korea for a vacation last year. Before
this trip, I used to be afraid of traveling. It was a short trip, but it was so
much fun. South Korea was such a beautiful country, with many interesting
customs. We got to see some famous and historical places. They were
mostly in the capital city, where there were too many people. Kimchi was
served with every meal, and the country had a wide variety of delicious
cuisines. Before the trip, I researched enough information so I wouldn't feel
culture shock. I will probably go back there soon.
