Definition of Terms

For further understanding of the study, the following terms are

operationally and conceptually defined:

Academic Performance. It refers to the measurement of student

achievement across various academic subjects using classroom performance,
graduation rates, and results from standardized tests (Investopedia, n.d.). In
this study, academic performance is the respondent’s academic standing in
Mathematics from school year 2022-2023.

Random Sampling. It is a part of the sampling technique in which each

sample has an equal probability of being chosen and is meant to be an
unbiased representation of the total population (Merriam-Websters
Dictionary). In this study, it is used to select respondents among Grade 12
students of Handumanan National High School.

Social Media. These are websites and applications that enable users to
create and share content or to participate in social networking (Oxford, n.d.).
In this study, social media is the main influence of the respondents to their
attitude towards school works that affects their academic performance.
