LABORATORY REPORT 1

Measurement of Length, Area, Volume, Density,

Specific Gravity, Time & Speed

Instruction:

1. Select at least three (3) physical quantities to be measured and evaluated.

2. Conduct an experiment for measuring these quantities using:
(a) standard measuring device (or established method of measurement); the
value obtained from this measuring device will be considered the Set Value or
the Target Value, and
(b) measure the same quantity using different measuring device; you may use
informal system of measuring or other acceptable method. This process must
be conducted in at least five trials.
3. Present your data in tabular or graphical manner.
4. Determine the accuracy (with respect to the Target Value) and the precision of
the data obtained in (2b)
5. Laboratory report must be presented in IMRAD format. The format provided
below will serve as a guide on presenting your laboratory report 1. You may add
and/or enhance the content as presented below.

Objectives of Laboratory Report 1:

1. To use standard and non-conventional measuring device to measure different

quantities.
2. To design experimental procedure for measuring different quantities.
3. To check the accuracy and precision of the set of measurements.
4. To determine the type and cause of measurement error.
