B. Developmental Activities
Instruct students to get a piece of paper and tell them that they will watch a
short video clip about the different elements of a literary text, and instruct them to
write down the important information that they can get from the video clip and keep it
for the later discussion.
2) Motivation
 Instruct students to arrange the given letters to identify the unfamiliar words, and
tell them to read the words for their vocabulary development.

UNLOCKING UNFAMILIAR WORDS ACTIVITY:


1. BTHGRI (Answer: Bright)
implies emitting or reflecting a high degree of light
2. MSWA (Answer: Swam)
The past tense of the swim which means to move in water by using
the limbs, fins, tail, etc
3. DDLEAW (Answer: Waddle)
To walk with short steps and a clumsy swaying motion.
4. NPOD (Answer: Pond)
A small body of still water formed naturally or by hollowing or
embanking.
5. ULNHC (Answer: Lunch)
a meal is eaten in the middle of the day

 Instruct students to listen carefully to the story of The Frog’s lunch and after
reading the story they will be answering the questions that you will ask them.
THE FROG’S LUNCH
On a bright sunny day, a frog sat on a lily pond. A coy fish swam by “Good day Mr. Frog, are you
waiting for something?” “Yes, I am waiting for my lunch”, said the frog “Oh, Good luck, I hope
you’ll have a great lunch,” said the fish and swam away. Then the duck waddle by in front of the frog
“Good day Mr. Frog, are you waiting for something?” “Yes, I am waiting for my lunch”, said the frog
“Oh, Good luck, I hope you’ll have a great lunch,” said the duck and waddled away. Then a fly came
buzzing by “Good day Mr. Frog, what are you doing?” asked the fly “I am now having my lunch!
Slurp!” said the frog, and Mr. Frog Smiled.
Ask students:
1. Who is the main character in the story?
2. What was the frog doing?
3. In what way did the Frog able to get his lunch?
4. What do you think are the characteristics that could best describe Mr. Frog?
5. What do you think are the characteristics that could help the fly?
