THE INSPIRING LIFE STORY OF

KENTUCKY
FRIED CHICKEN
Have you ever been rejected or disappointed time and time again? Well
Colonel Harlend Sanders, founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, did.
One day a kid was born in Henryville, Indiana in U.S named as Colonel Harlend
Sanders. His father passed away when he was just a little boy, leaving sanders
to cook and take care for his siblings. However, in 7th grade he dropped out of
school and left home to go work as a farm hand. That couldn’t stop sander’s
from finding his way through life. At age of 16 he faked his age to get enlisted
in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged later, He didn’t
want to give up Then he was hired by the railway as a laborer. Then he went
for various jobs but he couldn’t succeed in any of it. After trying so hard to do a
job he thought of starting his own job by selling chicken in a service station
when he was 40. Following the war, he tried to franchise his restaurant. His
recipe was rejected 1009 times before anyone accepted it. Colonel Harland
Sanders founded Kentucky Fried Chicken after failing many times.
At first Colonel Harland Sanders started selling fried chicken from his road side
restaurants in corvin, Kentucky. Finally, Colonel Harlend Sander’s secret recipe
was coined as “Kentucky Fried Chicken” and quickly it became a hit. After years
of failures and misfortunes. The first KFC franchise opened in Salt Lake City,
Utah in 1952. KFC was one of the first fast food chains to expand
internationally. Colonel Harland Sanders started to open outlets around the
world in 1916s. KFC expanded internationally and he sold the company for 2
million dollars. Even today, Sander’s remains centralized in KFC’s branding and
his face still appears in their logo. In early 1970s, KFC was sold to the spirits
distributor heubleil, which was taken by R.J. Reynolds food and Tobacco
Company, which later sold the chain to PepsiCo. The chain continues to expand
overseas.
A number of Kentucky Fried Chicken outlets have declined in the US but the
company has continued to grow in Asia, South America and Africa. The chain
has expanded to 18875 outlets across 118 countries and territories, with 4563
outlets in China alone. Now it has become one of the largest food chains in the
world.

The “Kentucky Fried Chicken” that we eat came through a hard and long path.
If Colonel Harlend Sanders gave up everything after he was kicked out from his
school, we would have not been able to get the taste of this delicious piece of
chicken. Luck is great, but most of life is hard work and dedication. When we
look back on the success story of KFC, just as a rough see brings about a great
captain hard times create strong people and strong franchises. We can either
learn from the hard times or we can choose to give up and not push to be extra
ordinary
