1 General Notes and Safety

DANGER!

Before the execution of any maintenance or inspection work, make sure to


read carefully the OEM Operating Manual.
The instructions given in the OEM Operating Manual have to be observed!

All maintenance works shall only be carried out after shutdown of the
HPGR!

The maintenance instructions were compiled by TAKRAF, and were created


to ensure the stability of the HPGR and its components. These shall be ob-
served!

All maintenance work of the HPGR is reserved to properly trained and in-
structed personnel!

Prior to starting maintenance work, all components of the


HPGR which are transporting and processing material shall be run until
empty and all residual material remaining posing hazards are removed!

Prior to starting maintenance work, the trained and instructed personnel


shall make sure that the HPGR is properly secured against unintended
and/or unauthorized machine start!

Eliminate any damage immediately! The HPGR must only be taken into op-
eration after the elimination of all damages!

WARNING!

Make sure to wear all prescribed safety personal protective equipment, in-
cluding close-fitting work wear, safety footwear, safety eyewear, hard hat
and working gloves during maintenance!

Tight-wearing clothes will help avoiding accidents!

Secure the maintenance personnel working on the HPGR by using suitable


safety measures and protective equipment against falling (such as a safety
harness)!

Make sure to provide sufficient lighting at the working area during mainte-
nance works!

The operating company shall determine suitable lifting, supporting and pull-
ing equipment, service platforms and tools!

Individual components and component groups with a weight exceeding 10


kg shall be secured with suitable lifting and supporting equipment!

Keep the lifting and pulling equipment always under tension!

Untensioned lifting and pulling equipment may cause uncontrolled move-


ment of the components to secure and, consequently, increase the risk of
personal injuries and material damages to the HPGR!

ATTENTION!

Prior to starting maintenance work, make sure that all tools and auxiliary
equipment are ready for safe operation!

3 Wear Measurement of the Tyres


At a regular schedule, the surface of the tyres must be measured to determine the degree of wear.

It’s not necessary to remove the rolls to perform the wear measurement. The ruler can be installed
through the open doors of the enclosure.

(1) Rotate the roll by use of existing maintenance drive (Fig. 1). Please refer to OEM Operation
and Maintenance Manual for further information on maintenance drive. One pair of brackets
need to face the open doors in in horizontal orientation. Remove the plug screws (Fig. 2).

(2) Clean the roller surface in the measuring area.


(3) Install the support bars and the ruler (Fig. 3). Refer drawing 44901525 for detailed information.

(4) Insert the dial gauge in every hole and measure the depth to the top of the studs and the roll
surface between studs (Fig. 4). Enter the measured values (1/10mm precision) in the pro-
vided measuring log with information on date, accumulated throughput and service life of the
tyres. Provide the measuring log to TAKRAF personal for further evaluations.

(5) After measuring at all positions, remove the ruler and support bars. Install the plug screws in
the brackets to protect the threads.
(6) Rotate the roll and repeat the measuring at the 3 other positions.
(7) After finishing all measurements, deactivate the maintenance drive.
