RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PROPELLER DESIGN
INTERRELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN ENGINE AND PROPELLER

In a number of cases, our respective recommendations for propeller design and our service
instructions concerning the interrelationships between engine and propeller have been
misinterpreted or incorrectly applied by clients or yards.

In endeavour to prevent such occurrences, we have revised the above mentioned

documentation, whereby it must be stated the the fundamental design philosophy has not
been changed.

Enclosed please find our "Recommendations for Propeller Design" and "Interrelationships
between Engine and Propeller".

The latter supersedes the respective exposition in Chapter 580 or 581 of our Service
Instructions for RD or RND engines, but, in principle, is also valid for other types of engines
wherever applicable.
