On the 16th day of October 2023, our subject in HIS003-History of Muslim Filipinos and
Indigenous People section Ff4 with our kind Professor Tirmizy Abdullah had our field trip in Mindanao
State University Aga Khan Museum as it is related to our subject which investigate the past and its
history that have been a significant role in the lives of many Filipinos especially the moros,it has a crucial
part in the development of the different ethnics in Mindanao which is until today is still evident to their
minds,the pain and suffering that our ancestors experienced will forever sealed in everybody's heart and
soul.It seems like yesterday how the moros fight for their rights,lands and for sacrificing their lives just
to be able to obtain the independency of the mother land and the whole nation.

As we stepped inside the museum,the first we look over is Sen.Domocao Alonto with his picture
frame along with other honorable persons such as Aga Khan and Antonio Isidro.Sen.Domocao Alonto is
the first senator maranao-muslim in the Philippines,he is the one who established MSU here in Marawi
City.We also talked about Aga Khan,a philantrophist who donated the amount of the construction of the
museum,he was also the first marano sociologist.Next one is Antonio Isidro,the first president of the
university from University of the Philippines Diliman.On the left side of the pictures mentioned above is
what we called Tabo,a tall,wood and have okir around it was using for call of the prayer by muslims a
long ago.There is a huge wood challender in the middle of the building which is according to Sir is called
manggis,a kind of playing,it has a lot of box hanging on it and every boxes containes different prizes
through kicking it out and make it fall or to break it or it is called kashipa and also Sir mentioned that it is
used in every important ceremonies of maranao events such as enthronement ceremony and wedding
or pakaradyaan.Under the manggis is the kulintang and gongs and above it is the okir and
panulong.Going on the other corner of the museum is the antique houses,boat and different ancient
materials.There is torogan where the royal family is residing.The lamin,a princess dormitory where the
daughter of the sultan stay to protect her from invaders.There is also a lakub,a container for tobacco.To
add more,there is ancient kokora,gantang ,kobing,layama sa tiyateg and the lepa boat by bajaw.On the
corner of the room,there is marigay which is used when there is an important event such as
wedding,enthronement and it serves as a announcement in the community that there will be an
important event coming.After that,we proceed to the second floor of the museum where in the stairs
going above is the map of the lake lanao and the province of Lanao Del Sur wherein the different
municipalities are mark in it and have their boundaries each.On the map,there is the different distinct
fishes you can find in the lake lanao but it is already gone and did not presserve.Followed by the
appointed president of Mindanao State University from the first president until today.Next,we move on
to the beautiful paintings mentioning the talented artists that I couldn't remember their name.Behind
the wall where paintings are is the different style of waving of the meranaws and its different pattern
design.On the middle of the room is where you can see the beautiful Holy Qur'an that has been
preserved until today from Ottoman empire in 1921 and Instanbul Constantinople and Turkey today.It is
one of the oldiest and ancient Qur'an in the world which it is one of the first copy that Qur'an distribute
in the world.Moving to the back and left side of the room is the different knives that has been preserved
from the ancestors.On the middle side of the room is where the huge bed by the sultan,it is surrounds
with different designs such as ampas,mamandiyang,talam and the big baor.After we examined the
materials,we proceed to the ground floor where you can also see the big paintings,according to Sir is it is
the battle between Binidayan and the Americans on the year of 1902.Other side of the room contains
the different weapon used by the mujahideen to defend the lands from the colonizers such
paliyontod,spear and son on.To end our field trip,we exit because there is a visitors of the museum.On
the outside,Sir discussed something about those people sent to Indonesia if I'm not mistaken to have
their military training.After the question and asnwer,we ended our informative field trip.

REFLECTION ON WEBINAR

Mindanao State University College of Social Sciences and Humanities in the Department of
History had their 8th Webinar sa Kasaysayan on the 29th day of November 2023.The webinar opened at
exactly 8 in the morning with the dean of the college Monaima Manabilang by giving her message as
considered as an opening remarks of the event.Next is introducing the first speaker Dr.Neil Martial R.
Santillan a professor from the University of the Philippines.In his first presentation,he discussed about
'Paano itinuturo ang Kahalagahan ng Mindanao sa Oambansang Kasaysayan' and he actually explored
the every detailed of it.One thing that he defined about kasaysayan is that 'kasaysayan ay
makabuluhang pag-aaral sa nakaraan,salaysay na may saysay'.He also mentioned about the person who
have been an author of numerous books such as the History of the Filipino People which is written by
Teodoro Agoncillo a national scientist as well.The speaker also tackled about the history from the time
of pre-colonila Philippines up to the present.

The second speaker was Ian Christopher Alfonso a national historian.The topic that the second
speaker discussed was about 'Preservation of Local History and Cultural Heritage'. In the beginning of his
presentation, one statement he marked was ' To preserve something,one must be conscious'.He also
stated the four histoey discriminates that means history is relative,biased,subjective and yet it teaches
us impartiality.He also defined heritage.To him,heritage is everything inherited from the past that has
value,and culturally natural.It is tangible and intangible,it should important to the community and a past
with value.At the end of his presentation,he end it in a quote stated 'The point of heritage is not that the
public should learn something but that they should become something'.In the end of thw
event,Dr.Adam gave his summary to the two speaker and express his reaction.
