Cashless Entry in Expressways using RFID

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) proposed an ordinance regarding Radio

Frequency Identification (RFID) for expressways and tollways in the country--as it is help to
prevent the spread of the virus in the country: where in fact it make sense.
Secretary Arthur Tugade signed Under Department Order 2020-012 on August 13, 2020
ordering to formulate innovative processes and procedures within three months to ensure
the smooth implementation of the new policy. According to the Department of
Transportation, implementing cashless on expressways and tolls will contain the spread
COVID-19 in the country; it will help to reduce traffic and also to avoid contact transaction in
paying toll using cash. The motorists are required to use and install electronic tags or use of
other forms of cashless in their units. I agree with the implementation of a modern toll
payment process on expressways, because apart from avoiding traffic; it will also control the
number of COVID19 cases in the country and prevent close contact with people.
The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) just recently introduced a Radio Frequency
Identification system to all motorists along with private vehicles and public utility vehicles
(PUV). It is implemented to all expressways and tollways in the country. The new policy
launched by the department of transportation I agree with, firstly because the use of RFID
can control the number of COVID-19 cases in the country, because close contact with
people will be avoided and the payment of toll on expressways will reduce traffic further for
motorists.
