● Students will complete a review quiz based on temperature
● Students will become meteorologist and give the class their weather report
● Students will watch a video of a kindergartener giving a meteorologist report so they
can get an example of what theirs should look like

Meteorologist- A physical scientist who observes, studies, or forecasts the weather

Content/Facts
Students will watch a video on a kindergartener being a meteorologist
Students will complete a worksheet for a quiz grade
Students will complete a worksheet based on their favorite weather or if they had a magic
wand and could change the weather
Students will be able to come up to the smart board with a meteorologist background and give
the class their report

Introduction/Activating/Launch Strategies
“Today we are going to review temperature and thermometers”
“You will first take a quiz reading the thermometer and recording the temperature on the line
below.”
“When you are finished with the quiz, come and put it on my desk.”
“Make sure your eyes are on your own paper because I want to know what you can do not
your neighbor.”
Development/Teaching Approaches
1. Once all students are complete with their quizzes teacher will tell them to head to the
carpet
2. “Okay so today everyone will get to be the meteorologist and share with the class your
favorite type of weather or if you had a magic wand what you would do with the
weather.”
3. “Before we do that I am going to show you a video of a kindergartener being a
meteorologist so you can see what it's like.”
4. After students watch the video we will talk about it as a class
5. The students will discuss what the little boy did wrong or what they liked about the
video
6. Teacher will then explain what the students will do next
7. “You can either pick to write about your favorite type of weather or if you had a magic
wand and could change the weather what type would you change it to.”
8. “Make sure you write with complete sentences and explain why with both writings”
9. “On your way back to your seat come up and get either worksheet from me”
10. “When you get back to your seat start your writing right away”
11. “Try and take out all your words”
12. “I will give you an example of what I wrote. My favorite type of weather is when it is
sunny and warm. I like to go to the beach and take walks with my friends.”
13. “I will give you about 7 minutes to complete your writing and then I will start pulling
sticks to come up to the board if you would like to share”
14. “I will also put a meteorologist background up on the smartboard so you can get the
real feel.”
15. Once 7 minutes is up teacher will start picking sticks for students come up if they want
to share
16. Students who want to share and be a meteorologist will come up to the board and read
their writing
17. They will first say their name and that they are going to be the meteorologist for the
day

Closure/Summarizing Strategies
1. Once every student shares everyone will put their papers in their blue folders
2. As a class we will talk about the students favorite thing they learned from the weather
unit
3. Once we are done discussing students will start fundations
