2 My Business:
I see myself as the CEO of “Black Barrels” which is based in Brussels, Belgium. As the owner
of Black Barrels, I’m solely interested in creating immersive and spine-chilling horror
experiences using augmented reality (AR) technology with online/multiplayer features.
Some examples of the type of games I want to develop are “AR Escape Rooms (designing
games that place players in puzzling environments, where they must solve riddles, unlock
doors, and evade supernatural entities to escape all while using your phone camera), AR
Horror Games (for example using your phone camera or VR headset integrated with your
phone camera to put your surroundings, for example your home into a scary, horror
environment where you have to survive by any means necessary), MMEG Survival Thrillers
and Mystery Detective Games where players are free to use their creative mind to solve
crimes as a detective or detectives by cooperating together or working alone. I also love to
put our trademark gameplay mechanic by adding a twist to our type of games using those
technologies by adding paranormal or supernatural elements to it, thus intensifying the
gameplay to make it more immersive. Those types of games can be played with your
friends or alone thus making the option Multiplayer optional by the player’s preference. VR
will naturally be an option for all those games but AR would be optimal as it can be easily
accessible by the majority of our target audience (gamers) and less cheaper (using the
technology in smartphones).
– Free-To-Play: Many studios like Activision, EA, Dice, Epic Games have ingrained a
method called “Free-to-play”. Those companies have launched popular games like
Fortnite's Battle Royale, Warzone, Blackout, where gameplay or more specifically
this game mode is entirely free and attracts lots of players. This is what I call our
free-to-play model. This is a model that became extremely popular in the recent
digital age of gaming. This will boost popularity of Black Barrel and attrack many
newcomers to try out other ‘priced’ games.
– Licensing and Franchising: I can monetize Black Barrel’s creations by licensing the
games and gaming engine to educational institutions, such as schools or major
technology companies to further develop and help us create better gaming engines
to develop better games to diversify out games genre to the gamer’s requests.
– Sponsor deals: We can make sponsor deals and brand deals on popular streaming
platforms like Twitch, Rumble and Youtube where famous gamers livestream to
million of their audiences and try out a plethora of games and having a great time.
This will further boost the popularity of our games and profit by making it
mainstream.
– In-Game Purchases & DLC’s: A method used by lots of big AAA companies is Pay To
Win, while not really ethical, it’s finally up to the player’s choice to either buy skins,
DLC’s, Battle Passes. That way we can make even more profit and launch new
content with time to attract new customers. With the profit gathered we can invest
in better engines, invest in productivity and make larger studios for Black Barrels to
develop even more games and release it on the gaming market reaching a large
audience. The offers for in-game purchases are additional features, or
personalization options. And naturally, subscriptions to access premium
educational content and AR enhancements.
