PROJECT PROPOSAL

Project Title : Knowledge is Power: A Teen’s Guide to Informed

Decision-Making in Sexuality

Lead Facilitator : NSTP CWTS STUDENTS

Rationale : According to Sandoval (2021), young people's ability to

control, decide, and plan about their bodies has been
associated with the capability to complete their education,
achieve their career goals, increase their chances of
breaking out of the cycle of poverty, improve mental health
outcomes, and have higher levels of satisfaction in their
relationships. Teens need to be given the information and
resources they need to make moral decisions about their
sexuality in this day of rapidly changing social norms and
technology. The goal of the seminar, "Knowledge is
Power," is to address the urgent need for teens to receive
comprehensive sex education so they may appropriately
manage the intricacies of relationships and sexuality.

In response to the pressing concern identified through a

previous survey, NSTP students are set to conduct a
targeted seminar in Barangay Pandan City Center, Angeles
City. With sex education ranking as the third concern
among residents, particularly parents and youth, the
seminar aims to address the alarming trend of early
pregnancies among teens in the community. The target
audience is the age group of 15 to 21; the initiative seeks to
empower these individuals with knowledge and resources,
fostering a sense of responsibility and informed decision-
making in matters of sexuality. By directly engaging with
the community and providing comprehensive information,
the seminar aims to contribute to the overall well-being and
prospects of the youth in
Barangay Pandan.

Objectives:
This program aims to address teenage pregnancy and provide knowledge about the
importance of sex education:
• Provide Informed Decision-Making
• Raise awareness
• Promote Healthy Relationship
• Encourage open dialogue

Intended Learning Outcomes

• Improve individuals' capacity to discuss sexuality, consent, and relationships
openly with peers, parents, and trusted adults, promoting effective
communication.

• Develop critical thinking skills in evaluating information related to sex education,

enabling participants to discern between accurate information and myths or
misconceptions.

• Empower teenagers to make responsible decisions in matters of sexuality,

including contraception, consent, and the emotional aspects of intimate
relationships, to reduce the risk of unintended consequences.

• The seminar will inspire participants to actively engage with the community,
sharing their knowledge and encouraging ongoing conversations about sex
education to promote a culture of understanding and responsibility.

• Attendees will be informed about available resources and support systems related
to sexual health and relationships, ensuring they know where to seek assistance
and guidance when needed.
