ABSTRACT

The Philippines, being a Christian country, finds sex education a sensitive topic to

discuss with However, with the increasing cases of pregnancies, sexually-transmitted diseases

and other forms of sexually-related violence, the Philippine government raised their vote to

integrate and teach sex education in the curriculum. After recognizing the vital role of education

on the rising incidences of early pregnancy, sexual violence and human immunodeficiency virus

(HIV) infection among youth, a DepEd Order was passed to include sexuality education in order

to mandate the provision of an age-appropriate reproductive health education for adolescents

This study used quantitative method specifically, non-experimental descriptive-correlational

research design. A questionnaire that underwent validation and reliability testing was utilized as

a form of instrumentation. Out of the 194 respondents of this study 45 are in a relationship

Moreover, majority of the respondents aging from 16 to 17, revealed to have knowledge on how

sex education affects on their sexual concepts and insights. The student’s sex education was

described in terms of relationship status, decisions and sexual inclination where the majority of

its results revealed that the importance of considering the impact of relationships, decisions and

sexual inclination when it comes to sex education. Finally the quantitative results showed that

most of the Senior high School students in Holy Cross College Sta. Rosa, NE Inc. have

knowledge in sexual concepts and insights in terms of relationship status, decisions, serual

inclination, sexual concepts and insights. The study found that majority of the respondents

agreed on various aspects related to sex education also the factors such as relationship status,

decision-making skills, sexual inclination, and the importance of sex education received positive

ratings, indicating agreement or strong agreement. The data also revealed associations between

students' demographic profiles and their sex education experiences. The study provides valuable
insights for promoting informed discussions and safer practices among students, emphasizing the

importance of considering age, gender, and other relevant factors in sex education efforts. The

action plan outlined strategies for systematically addressing specific concerns with clear

objectives and timelines. The research outcomes were evaluated using defined success

indicators. Overall, the study highlights the positive effects of sex education on decision-making

skills and emphasizes the value of insights gained from sex education. The action plan aims to

enhance sex education by promoting healthy relationships, responsible decision-making,

understanding sexual concepts, empowering individuals to realize their sexual health, and

fostering self-awareness and understanding of diverse perspectives. It includes activities like

workshops, guest speaker sessions, creative expression workshops, establishing peer support

groups, and group reflection sessions. The target audience includes learners, educators, school

administrators, and experts in relevant fields. Success indicators include improvements in

thinking skills regarding relationship status, awareness of informed decision-making in sexual

health, understanding of sexually transmitted infections and safe sexual practices, creation of

inclusive and supportive environments, and increased awareness of diverse perspectives and

sexual health challenges.

This study accentuates the importance of sex education for young people to protect and

advocate for their health, wellbeing and dignity by providing them with a necessary toolkit of

knowledge and attitudes. The study contribute valuable insights to the ongoing discourse on sex

education, teaching to be knowledgeable enough when trying to engage in sexual intercourse and

to be aware what can be the possible effects engaging in sexual activities.
