Introduction ( 10 min.):
- Relationship - Set up nets before class begins “The 2 rules of footwork are:”

Check - Evenly split the class into 2 groups. One group will be on the

Body or use the cardio room. Each group will have 5 minutes for
each activity.

Activity #1 - Short Serve Recieve Practice (10 min)


- Students will take 3-5 shuttles (depending on availability) and stand across the net
from their partner. One student will have all the shuttles and will have the choice of
practicing their short serves (emphasize serving to the corners) or tossing the shuttle
with their hand. The other student will practice returning the shuttle with net play
(front corners) or an underhand clear (back corners). After one student has hit 6-10
shots, the students switch roles.

Activity #2 - Short Court Rally (Netplay) (10 min)


- Students will play doubles or triples with whoever is on their court. They are to
practice their net play, only hitting net play shots. Emphasize that a good net play
shot is contacted at net-height and is low and short. Demonstrate what happens if a
net play shot is too high or too long. Students are encouraged to keep score.

Activity #3 - Doubles Gameplay (10 min)


- Partners can be shifted to different courts so that they are playing students of similar
ability. If there are more than 2 partners on a court, they will play games to 5 points
and then rotate a pair on/off so that everyone gets equal reps. Encourage students to
utilize all their shots: short and long serve, clear, drop shot, smash, and net play.
