HANDICRAFT

-A wide variety of work where useful and decorative objects are made complety by hand or by using
tools only.

Collective terms of Handicraft include artisanry,handicrafting, and handicraftmanship.

Artisan- an artisan is a skilled craftworker who makes or creates material objects partly or entirely by
hand.
Handicrafting- an occupation that creating a weaving or pottery making and requiring skill with the
hands.

Crafting-the activity or hobby of making decorative objects with your hands

Handicraftmanship- the level of skill shown by somebody in making something beautiful with their
hands.
Many handicrafters use natural even entirely indigenous, materials while others may prefer modern,
non-traditional materials, and even upcycle industrial materials.

Handicrafts are often integrated into educational systems, both informally and formally. Most crafts
require the development of skill and the application of patience, but it can be learned by virtually
anyone.

There are three types of common handicrafts such as;

1.) Using textiles or leather


*ShoeMaking

Shoemaking is the process of making footwear. Originally, shoes were made one at a time by hand.

2.) Using wood, metal, clay, bone, horn, glass, or stone.


Ceramic jar l made from ceramic materials (including clay), which may take forms including art ware,
tiles, sculpture, and tableware. It is also one of the plastic arts.

3.)Using paper, glass or canvas

Mosaic is the art of creating images with an assemblage of small pieces of colored glass, stone, or other
materials. It is a technique of decorative art or interior decoration.
