Subjects: Hydraulic Engineering FM: 50
1. A trapezoidal channel of base width 6m having uniform flow at a depth of 1m with side slopes of 3H:4V
and bed slopes of 1V:1000H. Determine the flow rate, conveyance and type of flow using Chezy’s formula if
friction factor value is 0.03.

2. A trapezoidal channel having side slope equal to 60 degrees with the horizontal and laid on a slope of 1 in 850
carries a discharge of 6m3/s. determine the width at the base and depth of flow for MECS. (C=55)

3. A rectangular channel has a width of 2m carries a discharge of 4.8m3/s with a depth of 1.60 m at a certain
section a small, smooth hump with a flat top and of height 0.10m is proposed to be built. Calculate the new
water surface. Neglect the energy losses.
