TITLE: Decent Work Employment and Transcultural Nursing Culminating Activity

THEME:“Nursing Students’ Going Beyond: Discover, Taste, and Explore the Cultures and
Traditions of Countries Across Globe”

PROPONENTS:

BSN 4A Nightingale

BSN 4B Watson

COOPERATING AGENCY: College of Allied Health Sciences

DATE OF IMPLEMENTATION: December 12, 2023

INTRODUCTION:

Over the years, more than a million Filipino nurses have ventured abroad for better opportunities.

In the year 2021, it is estimated that 51%, or 316,000, of licensed Filipino nurses were working
abroad (DOLE, 2023). And the United States of America has always been the top destination.

However, before we leave the country for work or even just to travel, we know and study the
culture and traditions of the country we are going to. Attached to the seminars or training of nurses
before sailing to another country is knowing and learning the culture and traditions of the places
they are going to. The first is the language. There are countries where you will be accepted faster
if you know when it comes to their language. We also learn about their religion, food, values,
workplace culture, and many others.

It is hoped that this activity will serve as one of the ways to get to know the culture and traditions
of the countries assigned to each group of the two sections. Also, encourage viewers to visit and
work in the countries that the fourth-year nursing students will be featured in.

OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the activity, the participants/audiences will be able to:

1. Have a glimpse or a view of the culture and traditions of the countries that will be featured.

2. Learn and understand the culture and traditions of the countries that will be featured.

3. Differentiate and recognize the similarities of the cultures and traditions of the countries that
will be featured.
