SANITARY MANHOLE REPAIR SPECIFICATON

 Concrete
Manholes should be made of precast 30 Mpa reinforced concrete that
conforms to Indian Standards specifications.
 Size
Manholes should have a minimum inside diameter of four feet. The bottom of
a 4-foot manhole should be at least 6 inches thick and the wall should be at
least 5 inches thick. A 5-foot manhole should have a bottom that is at least 8
inches thick and a wall that is at least 6 inches thick.
 Construction
Manholes should have a concrete bed that is 20–30 cm thick. If the soil is
loose, a special foundation should be made to support the manhole.
 Flow channel
Manholes should have a flow channel to connect the inlet and outlet inverts
smoothly.
 Minimum concrete leg
The minimum concrete leg between
openings for adjacent pipes in manholes
is 6 inches.

Bedding

Step-1: Seal any joints in the pipe to ensure no


water from wet concrete can penetrate. ...
Step-2: Fill around the pipe with gravel. With
side walls thickness not less than 150mm / (6
inches)
Step-3: Pack the gravel firmly but not forcefully
around the pipe in sand or pea-gravel under
the slab to be poured. Very Lightly compacted
soil with a depth of 300mm
Minimum Sizes of trench for Drainage
Lines with the gravel covering of 100mm
on all sides of the Pipes.
