    For the poetic appreciation project, my partner, Anika, and I wrote a poem which reflected many aspects of Duffy's poetry and then
    wrote a justification on why we used specific elements in our poem. I think as far as our poem goes, it's not that great, however I think
    that it does do a good job of utilizing different techniques that are employed by Duffy. Writing a poem using the techniques which make
    Duffy a great poet, proved to be more challenging than just creating a normal poem. Trying to utilize the techniques of Duffy, I had to
    push aside my own personal style as much as possible, while trying to incorporate something that can be analyzed and gives
    appreciation to the way she crafts her poetry. It is useful though, especially as a writer, to write through the lens of someone else, as it
    makes me reevaluate my own choices in my writings and improves on my knowledge on how to stylistically go about these choices. I
    learned many things with writing in the style of Duffy that I think, when utilized well, will bring my poetry to a higher level. I learned the
    importance of titles in reference to the rest of the poem, something which I had not really taken seriously before, as I used to not even
    give my poems titles. Also the employment of a speaker which does not have to be myself, and from this how I can go beyond my own
    experience to comment upon other problems. Usually I would use poetry as a release and therefore use myself as the speaker,
    however, now that I have the knowledge on how to go beyond this, I think it will be very interesting in trying to employ this.
