9. Counteroffer / Контроферта: A response to an initial offer, proposing


different terms or conditions.

Example: After considering the initial offer, she made a counteroffer with different terms.

that are acceptable to a person in a negotiation

Example: His bottom line was a 5% pay raise, no less.

during a negotiation.

Example: She entered the negotiation with confidence, knowing she had done her
research and prepared well.

Read this example of how you can negotiate the pay-rise.

Employee: Hello, thank you for taking the time to meet with me today. I wanted to discuss
the possibility of a pay raise.

Employer: Of course, I'm happy to hear your request. Before we begin, can you tell me
more about why you're seeking a pay raise?

Employee: Well, I've been with the company for two years now and have consistently
met and exceeded my targets. I've also taken on additional responsibilities and have
contributed to the growth and success of the team. I believe my market value has
increased and I would like to be compensated fairly for my work.

Employer: I understand your perspective. Our company values pay equity and we want
to ensure that all employees are compensated fairly. Can you tell me more about what
you're looking for in terms of salary and benefits?

Employee: Yes, I've done some research and I believe my market value is around
$XX,000. In addition, I would like to discuss the possibility of additional benefits such as a
health insurance package and increased vacation time.

Employer: I appreciate you sharing your research with me. While I can't promise anything
at this point, I will review your request and take it into consideration. Can you tell me more
about the additional responsibilities you've taken on and how they have contributed to the
team's success?

Employee: Sure, I've taken on project management tasks and have successfully led
several key initiatives. In addition, I've been mentoring and training new team members
and have helped improve our overall efficiency and productivity.

Employer: I see. I appreciate your contributions and I will take them into consideration
when reviewing your request. Can you also tell me more about how a pay raise would
benefit the company?
