COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course involves the study of the different electronically-controlled domestic household appliances such as the following but not limited to: electric fans, electric
flat iron and press, automatic rice cooker, oven toaster, coffee maker, washing machine and drier, microwave oven, electronic controlled lightings and home security equipment. It
includes the manufacturer’s procedure in preparing appliances for servicing, systematic procedure in diagnosing faults based on industry standards, repairing of appliances based on
service manual supplied the manufacturer and reassembling and testing repaired appliances according to industry standards.

ASSESSMENT AND GRADING

Lecture assessment may include face-to-face or home-based testing. Formative assessments such as class participation, quizzes and seatwork /exercises will be used to evaluate your
comprehension and progress during the unit of lesson. Summative assessments are chapter and major examinations (Midterm and Final)

 Examinations - There are two majors in- class examinations, a midterm and a final exam that will allow you to demonstrate the knowledge you gained from the course. Exam
format will be of the objective type and will cover materials from all modules.
 Quizzes – There are five announced quizzes to cover the topics of the given module/s and will be administered during face-to-face classes/ online quiz. These will be given to
you in either before, during or after the discussion.
 Home-based requirements/online exercises – These are home-based assignments which are done outside the classroom -for a week or two. These tasked are to be
accomplished by you to monitor your learning from home. These are also assigned to you for harmonious and productive discussions during in-class.

2. Please stay home if you are unwell.
3. Attendance in the class signifies readiness to participate in class discussions and activities.
4. A student is responsible for his/her absence.
5. A student will be automatically marked DRP (Dropped) after eight (8) consecutive absences.
6. Requirements must be submitted within the designated date of submission.

5. Cheating on a test or assignment will result in a grade of zero for all involved.
6. Data for lab reports must be taken during lab. Copying of lab data after lab is not allowed. Each student is responsible for individual lab reports unless
specifically stated by the instructor.
