03 Activity No. 2

Direction: Answer the following questions about contemporary computer-related issues and
violations.
A. Research on a company or an individual who has faced any computer-related issue and
assess it by answering the following questions:

1. What was the main problem of the issue?

The main problem was a computer virus called ILOVEYOU infecting lots of computers.
It made computers stop working properly by changing or deleting files. This virus spread
through emails, tricking people into opening an attachment they thought was safe.

2. What law did the accused violate?

The accused violated a law called the E-Commerce Law. This law was created to
prevent people from doing bad things online, such as making harmful computer programs.
According to the source I found, the law wasn't in place when the virus was created, and this
issue is the reason why they enacted Republic Act 8792, known as the E-Commerce Law.

3. Were the complaints/charges justified? Explain.

Yes, the complaints/charges were justified. The accused's creation of the ILOVEYOU
virus led to widespread damage, financial losses, and disruptions to computer systems
worldwide. While there may not have been specific laws against malware creation at the time,
the actions clearly violated principles of cybersecurity and digital ethics, warranting
prosecution under the E-Commerce Law to prevent similar incidents in the future.

4. Do you agree with the result of the issue? Explain.

In my opinion yes, agreeing with punishing the person who made the ILOVEYOU virus
comes from understanding the damage it caused. The virus messed up many computers
worldwide, affecting individuals and businesses. Punishing the creator holds them
accountable and helps prevent similar incidents, making the internet safer for everyone.

5. Give your perspective about the justice system based on the conclusion of the
crime. Explain while providing a recommendation to prevent the issue from occurring
in the future.

Based on the outcome of the issue, the justice system seems fair because it held the
person responsible for causing harm to others using the malware. To prevent such incidents
in the future, people should be more cautious about opening email attachments from

of cybersecurity could help mitigate similar issues.
