INFORMATION
DESIGN
WEEK 5

10
INFORMATION DESIGN
● Its primary goal is clarity of
information.

11
12
INFORMATION DESIGN
HELPS MAKE SENSE OF DATA
● Data doesn’t have inherent
value unless you know how to
use it — or have a methodology
to initiate the process.

● Data is useless unless they’re

presented in a way that is
accurate, clear, engaging, and
easily absorbed.

13
INFORMATION DESIGN
MAKES INFORMATION ACCESSIBLE &
UNDERSTOOD
● Targeted to specific audiences
in specific situations to meet
defined objectives.

14
WHAT IS GOOD INFORMATION DESIGN?

15
ACCORDING TO RON LIPTON in the
“The Practical Guide to Information Design”:
1. It helps people navigate and understand the increasingly complex world of facts,
figures, directions, and demands.

2. It helps users finish a task, solve a problem, or meet a need.

3. It minimizes or eliminates frustrations.

4. It begins and ends with understanding the people who will use the content and making
sure that the content and its presentation and delivery serve them.

18
19
INFORMATION DESIGN &
USER EXPERIENCE
Not only must information be presented in a clear manner, but users also need to navigate
the information without it being overwhelming or confusing.

The basis of UX design is human-centered design. Meaning that everything is created with
the user in mind. User experience design follows a design thinking process in order to get
the best results.
