Explanation: Every teacher is obligated to help their learners learn and realize their
potential. According to my teaching philosophy, every child should recognize their
differences, accept everyone's uniqueness. I want a classroom where everyone is free
to speak up and show what they can do because every student is unique in their own
way. I want every student to embrace the differences of one another. My role as a
teacher is to assist each student develop their own potential. I will commit my time
and effort to teach them what they need to learn. I do not teach just to lecture, I teach
because I want them to learn something that will help them in the future. I also want
them to enjoy while learning because students are willing to take part inside the
classroom if they’re enjoying. I want to foster an environment where students can
reach their potential and where students can embrace themselves.
CHALLENGE: Reflect on your understanding of the K to 12 English Curriculum and
your experiences as a learner in the past. In what way/s could we improve the
teaching of the following areas of English in the Philippines?

Listening: I think we could make improvements in Listening by letting the learners

speak up for themselves or make the teachers let their students share their ideas.
Teachers should listen more to their students to make them more comfortable because
in my own experience, it’s better to study if the teacher is more approachable than
those teachers that won’t communicate with their students. Once you listen more to
your students, you can also know if they’re learning something and make
improvements.

Reading: In my own opinion, teachers should give more time and effort to their
students, let them read more often so that they could improve. I had a teacher in the
past that just read all by herself and won’t let us read. Our country nowadays are
improving in terms of learning English, so it would be better if the Teacher can give
more time and effort to their students.

Writing: Teachers should give more time on teaching their students on how to
properly write or construct a sentence. There are teachers that does not give any effort
to their students. Teachers should have more patience when it comes to teaching
because not every student can learn immediately. There are students that struggles or
having a hard time to learn.

Speaking: In my point of view, I think we could improve the teaching especially in

this area by pronouncing correctly. In my own experience I had a teacher in English
that kept on pronouncing some words incorrectly and some of us started to imitate the
way she pronounce the words. I think we can improve the teaching of English in the
Philippines by practicing/ learning more.
