Ross Lesson 3 Class Review Sheet

Dr. Marshall

1. Write the shewa symbol under the following consonants and then sound out the syllables
to your neighbor.

‫ל‬ ּ‫ב‬ ּ‫כ‬

2. Identify whether the shewas in the following words are SS (silent shewa) or VS (vocal
shewa). Tell your neighbor why you think so. Practice reading the words to each other.

‫בְּרֵ אשִׁית‬ ‫תְּהוֹ ם‬ ְ‫לָך‬ ְ‫וְחֹ֫שֶׁך‬ ‫י ַבְ ֵּדל‬

ָ‫בֵּינ ְך‬ ּ ‫שׁמְרו‬

ְ ִּ‫ת‬ ָ‫לְך‬ ּ ‫יִקְטְלו‬ ‫קוֹ טְלִים‬

3. Divide the syllables (treating VS according to Dr. M’s perspective). Label as open (O) or
closed (C).

4. Add the inseparable prep ‫ ל‬to the following words. Take turns explaining if/why vowel
pointings change.

‫מֹשֶׁה‬ ‫שְׁלֹמֹה‬ ‫אֲדָ מָה‬ ‫אֱדוֹ ם‬ ‫בְּ ִרית‬
