high proficiency group.
(2) say and segment at least 4 out of 6 words (fun-fair, perch, perm, berth and cure) during Robot Talk activity for
intermediate proficiency group.

worksheet for high proficiency group.

Activities:
Starter
1. Pupils say the sounds of phonemes (a, e, i, r).
2. Pupils hear the segmented sounds (ear, air, ure, er) and do a gesture for each sound.
Main Activities
1. Pupils see flash cards of (fun-fair, perch, perm, berth and cure) and answer the elicited questions.
2. Pupils hear the segmented sounds for each word and blend them with gestures.
3. Pupils repeat 3 times for each word.
Robot Talk Activity
4. Teacher puts a flash card on the board.
5. In groups, a pupil becomes a robot leader, says this rhyme in a robot voice “I am a robot. Can you help me? Can you
tell me what I see?” others say ‘I see a __________ .’
6. Teacher facilitates.
7. Pupils match 6 words to the relevant sounds on a task sheet.
