Exercise 3
1- What are the important of subbase layers?
2- Write short notes on: LAAT.
3- What are the pavement types?
4- Mention types of asphalt?
5- Mention how can you classify asphalt? And discuss each one?
6- Determine a blend of the two aggregates shown on the table which will meet specification
requirements using analytical and graphical solutions.

9- There is a two coarse aggregates: aggregate No 1, and aggregate No 2, and the fine aggregate is a
sand. The following table shows the following:
• Retained weight of Agg. 2 on each sieve in gm.
• Percentage of total passing of Agg. 1.
• Specification of mixed coarse aggregate (Agg. 1 + Agg. 2).
• Specification of all in aggregate (Agg. 1 + Agg. 2 + sand).

Find the following:

• Mixing ratio of mixed coarse aggregate.
• Mixing ratio of totally aggregate (use two different methods)
